In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
Has there been for man a period of time when he was not anything worthy of mention? (1)
Indeed We created man from the drop of a mixed fluid so that We may test him. So We made him endowed with hearing and sight
Indeed We have guided him to the way, be he grateful or ungrateful (3)
Indeed We have prepared for the faithless chains, iron collars, and a blaze (4)
Indeed the pious will drink from a cup seasoned with Kafour, (5)
a spring where the servants of Allah drink, which they make to gush forth as they please
They fulfill their vows and fear a day whose ill will be widespread (7)
They give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner, (8)
[saying,] " We feed you only for the sake of Allah. We do not want any reward from you nor any thanks
Indeed we fear from our Lord a day, frowning and fateful."
So Allah saved them from the ills of that day, and granted them freshness and joy (11)
And He rewarded them for their patience with a garden and [garments of] silk, (12)
reclining therein on couches. They will find in it neither any [scorching] sun, nor any [biting] cold
Its shades will be close over them and its clusters] of fruits [will be hanging low (14)
They will be served around with vessels of silver and goblets of crystal (15)
crystal of silver] from [which they dispense in a precise measure (16) قَوَارِیرَ مِن فِضَّةٍ قَدَّرُوهَا تَقْدِیرًا ﴿۱۶﴾
They will be served therein with a cup of a drink seasoned with Zanjabil, (17)
a spring in it, named Salsabil.)
They will be waited upon by immortal youths, whom, when you see them, you will suppose them to be scattered pearls
As you look, you will see there bliss and a great kingdom (20)
Upon them will be cloaks of green silk and brocade and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them to drink a pure drink
[They will be told]:" This is indeed your reward, and your endeavour has been well-appreciated." (22)
Indeed We have sent down to you the Qur'an in a gradual descent (23)
So submit patiently to the judgement of your Lord, and do not obey any sinner or ingrate among them,
and celebrate the Name of your Lord morning and evening,
and worship Him for a watch of the night and glorify Him the night long
Indeed they love this transitory life, and disregard a weighty day ahead of them
We created them and made their joints firm, and whenever We like We will replace them with others like them
This is indeed a reminder. So let anyone who wishes take the way toward his Lord. (29)
But you do not wish unless it is wished by Allah. Indeed Allah is all-knowing, all-wise. (30)
He admits whomever He wishes into His mercy, and as for the wrongdoers, He has prepared for them a painful punishment.
