The Newborn of Ka'ba painting, by Mahmoud Farshchian.

The Newborn of Ka'ba Painting (Persian: تابلو مولود کعبه) is a painting by Mahmoud Farshchian, a Shi'a miniaturist, which depicts the scene of the birth of Imam Ali (a) inside the Ka'ba.[1] In this work, Fatima bt. Asad, the mother of Imam Ali (a), is shown full-length exiting the Ka'ba while holding her infant, Imam Ali (a), in her arms, with angels present around them.[2]

This painting was created using acrylic paint on a miniature board with dimensions of 81 by 56 cm in 1995[3] and is kept in the collection of Farshchian's brother.[4]

The message of the artwork links the Perfect Man (al-Insan al-Kamil) and Wilaya with Tawhid, and the presence of angels is considered an emphasis on the sanctity of this birth[5] and assistance to Fatima bt. Asad.[6]

This image is created based on a narration according to which when labor pains overcame Fatima bt. Asad, the wall of the Ka'ba split by God's permission, and she entered the House of God. After three days, she exited the Ka'ba while holding her infant in her arms.[7]
