# [[Salman al-Farsi]]; a companion of the Prophet Muhammad (s) and of Companions of Imam Ali (a). After Prophet Muhammad (s) had passed away he became a supporter of Imam Ali (a) and a believer in his [[imamate]]. He disagreed with the [[Event of Saqifa]]. However, he cooperated with the first Caliph, Abu Bakr, and the second Caliph, 'Umar; he was also assigned as the governor of [[al-Mada'in]] in the time of the second Caliph.

# [['Aqil b. Abi Talib]]; one of the [[Prophet]]'s (s) companions, [[Imam Ali]]'s (a) brother, and [[Muslim b. 'Aqil|Muslim]]'s father. He was a great genealogist of [[Quraysh]].

# [[Hanzala b. Rabi']]; one of the Prophet's (s) Sahaba and a narrator of hadiths. He was an advocate of 'Uthman and an opponent of Imam 'Ali (a) in the Battle of Jamal and Battle of Siffin.

# [[Sulayman b. Surad al-Khuza'i]]; a companion of the Prophet (s), Imam Ali (a), Imam al-Hasan (a) and Imam al-Husayn (a). He fought many battles beside Imam Ali (a). He led the [[Tawwabun Uprising]] in [[65]]/684.

# [[Sa'd b. Mas'ud al-Thaqafi]]; among the companions of the Prophet (s), Imam Ali (a), and Imam al-Hasan (a) and the uncle of [[Mukhtar b. Abu 'Ubayd al-Thaqafi]]. In the battle of Siffin, he was appointed to the government of al-Mada'in and until the time of Imam al-Hasan al-Mujtaba (a) was in that position.

# [[Hujr b. 'Adi]]; one of the companions of the Prophet (s) and one of the elite companions of Imam 'Ali (a), and was one of the noblemen and wise of Kufa. He had an important role in many battles such as Jamal, Siffin, and Nahrawan. He was martyred in the way of supporting Imam 'Ali (a) by Mu'awiya.

# [['Amr b. al-'As]]; among the most serious enemies of the noble Prophet (s) who accepted Islam shortly before the conquest of Mecca and biographers have mentioned him among the companions of the Prophet (s). His enmity with Imam Ali (a) and his deceptions in the battles with Imam (a) made a despicable character of him to Shi'a. It is said that he had a role in many of Mu'awiya's deceptions against Imam Ali (a) including the shirt of 'Uthman. In the Battle of Siffin, he was among the top commanders of Mu'awiya and putting the Qur'an on spears is attributed to him.

# [[Aban b. Sa'id]]; one the companions of the Prophet (s) who converted to Islam in about [[7]] (628-9). The Prophet (s) appointed him as the commander of some [[Sariyya|sariyas]] (or military expeditions) as well as an agent for the collection of [[jizyas]] (taxes on non-Muslims) and other sorts of taxes in [[Yemen]]. After the demise of the Prophet (s), he first refused to pledge his allegiance to Abu Bakr, but after 'Ali b. Abi Talib (a) pledged allegiance to Abu Bakr, he did so as well.

# [[Abu Musa al-Ash'ari]]; He is mostly famous in historical sources because of the role he played in the Arbitration which took place after the Battle of Siffin.   

# [['Adi b. Hatim al-Ta'i]]; a companion of Prophet Muhammad (s) and 'Ali b. Abi Talib (a) and the head of Tay' tribe.  'Adi b. Hatim was present in every event along with Imam 'Ali (a) and he supported Imam al-Hasan (a) in time of his caliphate. He openly praised Imam 'Ali (a) in front of Mu'awiya.

# [[Qutham b. 'Abbas b. 'Abd al-Muttalib|Qutham b. 'Abbas]];  a companion and a cousin of Prophet Muhammad (s) and a Shi'a (follower) of Imam 'Ali (a). After Abu Qatada al-Ansari, he was appointed by Imam 'Ali (a) as the ruler of Mecca and Ta'if. In 38/658-59, he was appointed by the Imam (a) as the manager of the hajj rituals.  

# [[Jariya b. Qudama]]; one of the Prophet's (s) sahaba and a companion of Imam Ali (a) and Imam al-Hasan (a). After 'Uthman b. 'Affan's murder in [[35]]/656, he encouraged people of Basra to pledge their allegiance to Imam Ali (a). He was on Imam Ali's (a) side in the battles of Jamal, Siffin, and Nahrawan.  

# [[Abu l-Tufayl al-Kinani]];  a companion of Prophet Muhammad (s). He was also a poet and a supporter of Imam Ali (a). Abu l-Tufayl was a companion of [[Muhammad b. al-Hanafiyya]] and he was a flag-bearer of al-Mukhtar al-Thaqafi's army who launched an uprising to avenge Imam al-Husayn (a) and martyrs of Karbala.  

# [['Amr b. Hurayth al-Makhzumi]];  an advocate of Umayyads and the rulers of Kufa from the time of 'Uthman until the Uprising of al-Mukhtar. He had a role in the martyrdom of Maytham al-Tammar, Muslim b. 'Aqil, and Hujr b. 'Adi.

# [[Mikhnaf b. Sulaym]]; a commander of the army of Imam 'Ali (a) in the battles of [[Battle of Jamal|Jamal]] and [[Battle of Siffin|Siffin]], as well as his agent in [[Isfahan]] and [[Hamadan]].

# [[Umama bt. Abu l-'As b. al-Rabi']]; the daughter of Zaynab, who was the daughter of the Prophet (s) and Khadija (a). She married Imam Ali (a) after the death of Lady Fatima (a). It is said that this marriage took place upon the request of Lady Fatiam (a).

# [[Fidda]]; the housemaid of Fatima al-Zahra (a). She was named "Fidda" by the Prophet (s). She is mentioned in hadiths concerning the birth of Imam al-Hasan (a) and Imam al-Husayn (a), the revelation of al-It'am Verse, and the martyrdom of Fatima al-Zahra (a). She could speak with verses of the Qur'an and knew alchemy. She was allegedly present in the Event of Karbala as well.

# [[Halima al-Sa'diyya]]; the Prophet's (s) wet nurse and foster mother.
