Ammar was from Bani Dalan, a clan of [[Hamdan tribe]]. In the [[event of Karbala]], he attempted to kill [[Ibn Ziyad]] in [[Nukhayla]] camp near [[Kufa]], but he was not successful. Then, he joined the caravan of [[Imam al-Husayn (a)]] and was martyred on the [[day of 'Ashura]] in the first attack of the enemy.
