This is guideline for anyone who wants to edit in WikiShia. These rules are not revealed by [[God]], so they can be challenged and improved. However, these rules and policies are expected to be followed by all the editors of [[WikiShia]] unless they are replaced by new rules and policies. If you believe that any of these rules are not correct or they do not help to improve WikiShia's articles, please try to discuss about them in the [[Wikishia talk:Guidelines|discussion page]].
==Creating New Pages==
* Make sure no one has created the page you're about to create before.
# Use the search box
# Try different spellings
# Before clicking on "Create the page "..." on this wiki!" double and triple check your spelling.
==Transliteration of None-English Words==
{{Main|Wikishia:Transliteration Guide|Wikishia:Glossary of People and Places}}
There are a lot of articles with non-English words in them, that could be hard to pronounce for one who is not familiar enough with Farsi or Arabic. Those name are transliterated only in the first line of the article, according to the [http://www.islamic-college.ac.uk/pdf/Transliteration-Guide.pdf transliteration method] of Encyclopaedia of Islam, published by Brill.
For example, the name '''شيخ عباس قمی''' is transliterated as '''Shaykh ʿAbbās Qummī'''.
There is already a [[Wikishia:Glossary of People and Places|glossary of people and place]] in WikiShia that you use to know about transliteration of the name of a specific person of place. However, the glossary is written by WikiShia users, so feel free to improve it by adding new names and transliterations.
Here's also a brief table for frequently used letters in articles on Shia:

== Translation of Specialized Terms ==
{{Main|Wikishia:Glossary}}
Using non-English sources to improve the articles in WikiShia, you might come to a specialized Islamic or Shi'a term. There is a [[Wikishia:Glossary|glossary]] in WikiShia you can use in this case. This glossary is written by other editors of WikiShia, so feel free to improve it by adding new terms and translations.

== Links ==
== when the date of born is not known ==
Links between the articles are one of the most important of WikiShia, that make it a "wiki". Whenever you see a word or phrase in an article that a reader might need more information about, you can simply link that word or phrase to any other page in WikiShia. By using double brackets (i.e
ex. Jābir b. Yazīd b. Ḥārith al-Juʿ fī (جابر بن یزید بن حارث الجُعْفی) (b.? - d. 128/746),

<nowiki>[[*]]</nowiki> ) around a word or phrase it would be linked to a page in [[WikiShia]] with a same title.
== Reference to Quran ==
Q, Number of Sura: Number of verse. ex. {{font color|green|yellow|Q, 2:255}}

for example, <code>

== Link to categories ==

<nowiki>[[Imam 'Ali (a)]] is the first [[Imam]] of Shia.</nowiki> </code> renders: [[Imam 'Ali (a)]] is the first [[Imam]] of Shia.
<nowiki>[[:category:Name of the category|text]]</nowiki> * Example:
{{markup
|

===Red Links===
The author believes that sending
When linking a word or phrase, if the target page doesn't exist, this would make a red link. Red links are used when we know for sure that a page about the term will be created soon in WikiShia. This could help WikiShia not to stop expanding, but red links should not be used so much. Make red links only when you are sure that:

* the link will turn to a blue link soon
<nowiki>[[:category:prophets|prophets]]</nowiki> has been to help human...
* you cannot replace the red link with some explanation
|The author believes that sending [[:category:prophets|prophets]] has been to help human
* you cannot replace the red link with a blue link to a section in another article
* ...

===Linking a word or phrase to a page with a different title===
There might be times when we need to link a word or phrase to a page with a different title. This could be done with pipelines within the code of the link. The first part within the brackets would be the link target, and the part after the pipeline would be the linked word or phrase in the text.

For example, <code>

<nowiki>[[Lady Fatima (a)|Prophet's daughter]]</nowiki> </code> would link the phrase '''''Prophet's daughter''''' to the page [[Lady Fatima (a)]].

== Pictures ==
When uploading a picture on WikiShia, make sure that:

- You've chosen a related name for your file so it could be found easier

- You've added enough information and description about the picture

- You've mentioned the source of the picture

== Labels and Messages==
Labels are used when you need to inform other editors about a current situation in an article or when the article has one or multiple issues. Technically, labels are also templates and are used by adding a template code at the beginning or on top a section in articles. These are some of the most common labels in WikiShia.

===Under Construction===
{{Main|Template:Under construction/doc}}
This label is used to indicates that an article is actively under construction. The aim of using this label is mainly to prevent edit conflict. Remove this label when you're done editing the article. To put this message on any page, add {{tlx|Under construction}} at the beginning of the page which shows this:

{{Under construction}}

===Unreferenced===
{{Main|Template:Unreferenced/doc}}
If the article cites no reference at the end, add this template at the beginning: {{tlx|Unreferenced}} which renders:

{{Unreferenced}}

===Multiple Issues===
{{Main|Template:Multiple issues/doc}}
Since adding multiple labels at top of an article would cause the page look unpleasant, if an article has more than one issue, first try to fix the issues. But if you can't, use this template to add multiple messages in only one message box at top of the article, including every single issue in one separated line. Example:

<pre>
{{Multiple issues|
{{Incomplete|date=January 2008}}{{Unreferenced|date=June 2009}}{{Empty section|date=March 2011}}
}}
}}
</pre>

The code above renders:
{{Multiple issues|
{{Incomplete|date=January 2008}}{{Unreferenced|date=June 2009}}{{Empty section|date=March 2011}}
}}
