 Although there was a great suppression made by [[Abbasid caliphs]] at the time of the last Imams (a), the Shi'a had vastly spread throughout Islamic lands and there were connections between Imam al-Hadi (a) and the [[Shi'a]] of [[Iraq]], [[Yemen]], [[Egypt]], and other places.
