Ahl al-Bayt International University, Tehran

Ahl al-Bayt International University (Arabic: جامعة أهل البيت العالمية) is an educational and non-governmental institute in Tehran founded by Ahl al-Bayt World Assembly in 2004-5. The university identifies, admits, and educates non-Iranian students in graduate programs (master's and PhD). It issues official certificates for its graduates so that they can find jobs in academic and cultural centers of the country.[1]

The university has so far admitted and educated dozens of students from Turkey, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, India, China, Bangladesh, and Mali. In order to provide modern and virtual educational methods, the university has launched a program for distance education and E-learning in Arabic, English, and Persian languages.[2]

It is similarly honored to be a member of the International Association of Universities, affiliated to UNESCO. Besides education, every year the University is host to professors and researchers of Oriental Studies from around the world for study opportunities.[3]

The goals of the university include

Department of Language

Persian Language Learning Center

The Persian Language Learning Center teaches the Persian language with the goal of spreading the language and teaching it to the non-Iranian students of the university with complete audio and visual facilities and in the form of on-campus classes over a period of six to nine months at three levels of beginner, intermediate and advanced in the following four skill areas: reading, hearing, understanding and speaking. After the Persian learning course is over the students are assigned a language level and awarded with a Persian Language Course certificate. At this institute, short trips are organized within and outside the city to familiarize the students with Iranian culture and lifestyle. Some of the other activities of this institute are as follows: short Persian learning courses, Persian language teacher's training courses, online language teaching and courses.

Foreign Languages Learning Institute

The Ahlul Bayt International University has established an institute for teaching foreign languages with the purpose of elevating the language knowledge of language learners, university students, organizations, and all centers that are somehow in touch with those outside Iran as well as to create interaction between the University and different groups of people in society. To achieve this purpose, it employs and utilizes university instructors, first-level doctorate students, and graduates of language teaching fields. This institute teaches English, French, Arabic, Italian, German, Spanish, and Urdu. Short Courses Center: the purpose of this center is to organize short-term, intensive courses in Islamic Studies, Shia Studies, Women in Islam and Iran Studies, etc. in the form of on-campus and online courses.
