The Islamic Scientific Academy of Cologne (German: Islamische Wissenschaftliche Akademie) was established in 1976 by 'Abd al-Jawad Falaturi. Formally registered in Cologne in 1978, the institution remained active in the city until 1995, when it was relocated to Hamburg.[1] The founding board was comprised of ten Iranian religious intellectuals, and the academy's primary objective was the scholarly presentation of Islamic teachings and the administration of a specialized library.

The center was actively engaged in interfaith dialogue, particularly among Islam, Christianity, and Judaism, and sought to rectify prevalent misconceptions regarding Islam.[2] A significant initiative undertaken between 1979 and 1994 involved the revision of textbooks across Germany and 17 other European countries. This project aimed to amend inaccuracies regarding Islamic history and theology, exerting a positive influence on educators and academic institutions.[3]

Following Falaturi's passing in 1996, the academy and its library were transferred to the Islamic Centre Hamburg, where its educational and research activities continued.[citation needed]
