Kulayn (Persian: کلين) is a village near Tehran.

Important scholars were born in this village including:

  • Ya'qub b. Ishaq, the father of al-Shaykh al-Kulayni, who was living in the Minor Occultation period and was an scholar of his time. His shrine in Kulayn is a ziyarah site.[1]
  • Abu l-Hasan, 'Ali b. Muhammad known as "'Allan al-Razi" who was the uncle of al-Shaykh al-Kulayni and was a hadith narrator.[3]
  • Ahmad b. Muhammad
  • Muhammad b. Ahmad.

All are from "Kulayni family" and among prominent figures of Shia.[4]
