| 27) His Supplication for the People of the Frontiers
|
(27) وَ كَانَ مِنْ دُعَائِهِ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ لِأَهْلِ الثُّغُورِ
|
| In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
|
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحيمِ
|
| 1- O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
|
1. اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ ،
|
| fortify the frontiers of the Muslims through Thy might,
|
وَ حَصِّنْ ثُغُورَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ بِعِزَّتِكَ ،
|
| support their defenders through Thy strength,
|
وَ أَيِّدْ حُمَاتَهَا بِقُوَّتِكَ ،
|
| and lavish upon them gifts through Thy wealth!
|
وَ أَسْبِغْ عَطَايَاهُمْ مِنْ جِدَتِكَ .
|
| 2- O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
|
2. اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ ،
|
| increase their number, hone their weapons,
|
وَ كَثِّرْ عِدَّتَهُمْ ، وَ اشْحَذْ أَسْلِحَتَهُمْ ،
|
| guard their territory,
|
وَ احْرُسْ حَوْزَتَهُمْ ،
|
| defend their midst, unite their throng,
|
وَ امْنَعْ حَوْمَتَهُمْ ، وَ أَلِّفْ جَمْعَهُمْ ،
|
| arrange their affair,
|
وَ دَبِّرْ أَمْرَهُمْ ،
|
| send them supplies in a steady string,
|
وَ وَاتِرْ بَيْنَ مِيَرِهِمْ ،
|
| undertake Thyself to suffice them with provisions,
|
وَ تَوَحَّدْ بِكِفَايَةِ مُؤَنِهِمْ ،
|
| support them with victory, help them with patience,
|
وَ اعْضُدْهُمْ بِالنَّصْرِ ، وَ أَعِنْهُمْ بِالصَّبْرِ ،
|
| and give them subtlety in guile!
|
وَ الْطُفْ لَهُمْ فِي الْمَكْرِ .
|
| 3- O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
|
3. اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ ،
|
| give them the knowledge of that of which they are ignorant,
|
وَ عَرِّفْهُمْ مَا يَجْهَلُونَ ،
|
| teach them what they do not know,
|
وَ عَلِّمْهُمْ مَا لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ،
|
| and show them what they do not see!
|
وَ بَصِّرْهُمْ مَا لَا يُبْصِرُونَ .
|
| 4- O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
|
4. اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ ،
|
| make them forget when they meet the enemy to remember this cheating and delusive world of theirs,
|
وَ أَنْسِهِمْ عِنْدَ لِقَائِهِمُ الْعَدُوَّ ذِكْرَ دُنْيَاهُمُ الْخَدَّاعَةِ الْغَرُورِ ،
|
| erase from their hearts the thought of enchanting possessions,
|
وَ امْحُ عَنْ قُلُوبِهِمْ خَطَرَاتِ الْمَالِ الْفَتُونِ ،
|
| place the Garden before their eyes,
|
وَ اجْعَلِ الْجَنَّةَ نُصْبَ أَعْيُنِهِمْ ،
|
| and display to their sight that part of it
|
وَ لَوِّحْ مِنْهَا لِأَبْصَارِهِمْ
|
| which Thou hast prepared for them- the homes of everlastingness and mansions of honour,
|
مَا أَعْدَدْتَ فِيهَا مِنْ مَسَاكِنِ الْخُلْدِ وَ مَنَازِلِ الْكَرَامَةِ
|
| the beautiful houris,
|
وَ الْحُورِ الْحِسَانِ
|
| the rivers gushing forth with all sorts of drinks,
|
وَ الْأَنْهَارِ الْمُطَّرِدَةِ بِأَنْوَاعِ الْأَشْرِبَةِ
|
| the trees hanging, low with all kinds of fruits -
|
وَ الْأَشْجَارِ الْمُتَدَلِّيَةِ بِصُنُوفِ الثَّمَرِ
|
| lest any of them think of turning his back or suggest to himself to flee his opponent!
|
حَتَّى لَا يَهُمَّ أَحَدٌ مِنْهُمْ بِالْإِدْبَارِ ، وَ لَا يُحَدِّثَ نَفْسَهُ عَنْ قِرْنِهِ بِفِرَارٍ .
|
| 5- O God, defeat their enemy through that,
|
5. اللَّهُمَّ افْلُلْ بِذَلِكَ عَدُوَّهُمْ ،
|
| trim their nails from them,
|
وَ اقْلِمْ عَنْهُمْ أَظْفَارَهُمْ ،
|
| separate them from their weapons,
|
وَ فَرِّقْ بَيْنَهُمْ وَ بَيْنَ أَسْلِحَتِهِمْ ،
|
| pull out the firm ties from their hearts,
|
وَ اخْلَعْ وَثَائِقَ أَفْئِدَتِهِمْ ،
|
| keep them far away from their stores,
|
وَ بَاعِدْ بَيْنَهُمْ وَ بَيْنَ أَزْوِدَتِهِمْ ،
|
| bewilder them in their roads, turn them astray from their direction,
|
وَ حَيِّرْهُمْ فِي سُبُلِهِمْ ، وَ ضَلِّلْهُمْ عَنْ وَجْهِهِمْ ،
|
| cut off reinforcements from them, chop them down in numbers,
|
وَ اقْطَعْ عَنْهُمُ الْمَدَدَ ، وَ انْقُصْ مِنْهُمُ الْعَدَدَ ،
|
| fill their hearts with terror,
|
وَ امْلَأْ أَفْئِدَتَهُمُ الرُّعْبَ ،
|
| hold back their hands from stretching forth,
|
وَ اقْبِضْ أَيْدِيَهُمْ عَنِ الْبَسْطِ ،
|
| tie back their tongues from speaking,
|
وَ اخْزِمْ أَلْسِنَتَهُمْ عَنِ النُّطْقِ ،
|
| scatter by them the ones behind them make them a lesson for those beyond them,
|
وَ شَرِّدْ بِهِمْ مَنْ خَلْفَهُمْ وَ نَكِّلْ بِهِمْ مَنْ وَرَاءَهُمْ ،
|
| and through their degradation cut off the hopes of those who come after them!
|
وَ اقْطَعْ بِخِزْيِهِمْ أَطْمَاعَ مَنْ بَعْدَهُمْ .
|
| 6- O God, make the wombs of their women barren,
|
6. اللَّهُمَّ عَقِّمْ أَرْحَامَ نِسَائِهِمْ ،
|
| dry up the loins of their men,
|
وَ يَبِّسْ أَصْلَابَ رِجَالِهِمْ ،
|
| cut off the breeding of their mounts and their cattle,
|
وَ اقْطَعْ نَسْلَ دَوَابِّهِمْ وَ أَنْعَامِهِمْ ،
|
| and permit not their sky to rain or their earth to grow!
|
لَا تَأْذَنْ لِسَمَائِهِمْ فِي قَطْرٍ ، وَ لَا لِأَرْضِهِمْ فِي نَبَاتٍ .
|
| 7- O God, through that strengthen the prowess of the People of Islam,
|
7. اللَّهُمَّ وَ قَوِّ بِذَلِكَ مِحَالَ أَهْلِ الْإِسْلَامِ ،
|
| fortify their cities,
|
وَ حَصِّنْ بِهِ دِيَارَهُمْ ،
|
| increase their properties,
|
وَ ثَمِّرْ بِهِ أَمْوَالَهُمْ ،
|
| give them ease from their fighting to worship Thee
|
وَ فَرِّغْهُمْ عَنْ مُحَارَبَتِهِمْ لِعِبَادَتِكَ ،
|
| and from their warfare to be alone with Thee,
|
وَ عَنْ مُنَابَذَتِهِمْ لِلْخَلْوَةِ بِكَ
|
| so that none will be worshipped in the regions of the earth but Thee
|
حَتَّى لَا يُعْبَدَ فِي بِقَاعِ الْأَرْضِ غَيْرُكَ ،
|
| and no forehead of theirs may be rubbed in dust for less than Thee!
|
وَ لَا تُعَفَّرَ لِأَحَدٍ مِنْهُمْ جَبْهَةٌ دُونَكَ .
|
| 8- O God, send out the Muslims of every region on raids
|
8. اللَّهُمَّ اغْزُ بِكُلِّ نَاحِيَةٍ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ
|
| against the idolaters who face them!
|
عَلَى مَنْ بِإِزَائِهِمْ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ ،
|
| Reinforce them with angels in ranks from Thee,
|
وَ أَمْدِدْهُمْ بِمَلَائِكَةٍ مِنْ عِنْدِكَ مُرْدِفِينَ
|
| till the idolaters are routed by them to the end of the land,
|
حَتَّى يَكْشِفُوهُمْ إِلَى مُنْقَطَعِ التُّرَابِ
|
| slain in Thy earth or taken captive,
|
قَتْلًا فِي أَرْضِكَ وَ أَسْراً ،
|
| or till they admit that Thou art God,
|
أَوْ يُقِرُّوا بِأَنَّكَ أَنْتَ اللَّهُ
|
| other than whom there is no god, Thou alone, who hast no associate!
|
الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ وَحْدَكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ .
|
| 9- O God, include in this Thy enemies in the regions of the lands,
|
9. اللَّهُمَّ وَ اعْمُمْ بِذَلِكَ أَعْدَاءَكَ فِي أَقْطَارِ الْبِلَادِ
|
| the Indians, the Byzantines, the Turks,
|
مِنَ الْهِنْدِ وَ الرُّومِ وَ التُّرْكِ
|
| the Khazars, the Abyssinians, the Nubians,
|
وَ الْخَزَرِ وَ الْحَبَشِ وَ النُّوبَةِ
|
| the Zanjis, the Slavs, the Daylamites, and the rest of the idol-worshipping nations,
|
وَ الزَّنْجِ وَ السَّقَالِبَةِ وَ الدَّيَالِمَةِ وَ سَائِرِ أُمَمِ الشِّرْكِ ،
|
| those whose names and attributes are concealed,
|
الَّذِينَ تَخْفَى أَسْمَاؤُهُمْ وَ صِفَاتُهُمْ ،
|
| but whom Thou countest in Thy cognizance
|
وَ قَدْ أَحْصَيْتَهُمْ بِمَعْرِفَتِكَ ،
|
| and overseest through Thy power!
|
وَ أَشْرَفْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِقُدْرَتِكَ .
|
| 10- O God, distract the idolaters from reaching for the borders of the Muslims through the idolaters,
|
10. اللَّهُمَّ اشْغَلِ الْمُشْرِکینَ بِالْمُشْرِکینَ عَنْ تَنَاوُلِ أَطْرَافِ الْمُسْلِمِینَ،
|
| bar them from cutting them down through being cut down,
|
وَ خُذْهُمْ بِالنَّقْصِ عَنْ تَنَقُّصِهِمْ ،
|
| and hold them back from massing together against them through dissension!
|
وَ ثَبِّطْهُمْ بِالْفُرْقَةِ عَنِ الاحْتِشَادِ عَلَیهِمْ.
|
| 11- O God, empty their hearts of security
|
11. اللَّهُمَّ أَخْلِ قُلُوبَهُمْ مِنَ الْأَمَنَةِ ،
|
| and their bodies of strength,
|
وَ أَبْدَانَهُمْ مِنَ الْقُوَّةِ ،
|
| distract their hearts from thinking of stratagems,
|
وَ أَذْهِلْ قُلُوبَهُمْ عَنِ الِاحْتِيَالِ ،
|
| make their limbs too feeble for clashing with men,
|
وَ أَوْهِنْ أَرْكَانَهُمْ عَنْ مُنَازَلَةِ الرِّجَالِ ،
|
| make them too cowardly for contending with champions,
|
وَ جَبِّنْهُمْ عَنْ مُقَارَعَةِ الْأَبْطَالِ ،
|
| send against them a troop of Thy angels with some of Thy severity
|
وَ ابْعَثْ عَلَيْهِمْ جُنْداً مِنْ مَلَائِكَتِكَ بِبَأْسٍ مِنْ بَأْسِكَ
|
| as Thou didst on the Day of Badr,
|
كَفِعْلِكَ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ ،
|
| so that through it Thou mayest cut off their roots, harvest their thorns,
|
تَقْطَعُ بِهِ دَابِرَهُمْ وَ تَحْصُدُ بِهِ شَوْكَتَهُمْ ،
|
| and disperse their number!
|
وَ تُفَرِّقُ بِهِ عَدَدَهُمْ .
|
| 12- O God, mix their waters with pestilence
|
12. اللَّهُمَّ وَ امْزُجْ مِيَاهَهُمْ بِالْوَبَاءِ ،
|
| and their foods with maladies,
|
وَ أَطْعِمَتَهُمْ بِالْأَدْوَاءِ ،
|
| hurl down their cities, harass them with peltings,
|
وَ ارْمِ بِلَادَهُمْ بِالْخُسُوفِ ، وَ أَلِحَّ عَلَيْهَا بِالْقُذُوفِ ،
|
| hinder them through drought,
|
وَ افْرَعْهَا بِالْمُحُولِ ،
|
| place their supplies in the most ill-omened part of Thy earth and the farthest from them,
|
وَ اجْعَلْ مِيَرَهُمْ فِي أَحَصِّ أَرْضِكَ وَ أَبْعَدِهَا عَنْهُمْ ،
|
| bar them from its fortresses, and strike them with constant hunger and painful illness!
|
وَ امْنَعْ حُصُونَهَا مِنْهُمْ ، أَصِبْهُمْ بِالْجُوعِ الْمُقِيمِ وَ السُّقْمِ الْأَلِيمِ .
|
| 13- O God, if a warrior from the people of Thy creed wars against them
|
13. اللَّهُمَّ وَ أَيُّمَا غَازٍ غَزَاهُمْ مِنْ أَهْلِ مِلَّتِكَ ،
|
| or a struggler from the followers of Thy prescriptions struggles against them
|
أَوْ مُجَاهِدٍ جَاهَدَهُمْ مِنْ أَتْبَاعِ سُنَّتِكَ
|
| so that Thy religion may be the highest,
|
لِيَكُونَ دِينُكَ الْأَعْلَى
|
| Thy party the strongest, and Thy share the fullest,
|
وَ حِزْبُكَ الْأَقْوَى وَ حَظُّكَ الْأَوْفَى
|
| cast ease to him, arrange his affair,
|
فَلَقِّهِ الْيُسْرَ ، وَ هَيِّئْ لَهُ الْأَمْرَ ،
|
| attend to him by granting success,
|
وَ تَوَلَّهُ بِالنُّجْحِ ،
|
| select for him his companions,
|
وَ تَخَيَّرْ لَهُ الْأَصْحَابَ ،
|
| strengthen his back,
|
وَ اسْتَقْوِ لَهُ الظَّهْرَ ،
|
| lavish upon him livelihood,
|
وَ أَسْبِغْ عَلَيْهِ فِي النَّفَقَةِ ،
|
| give him enjoyment of joyous vitality,
|
وَ مَتِّعْهُ بِالنَّشَاطِ ،
|
| cool for him the heat of yearning,
|
وَ أَطْفِ عَنْهُ حَرَارَةَ الشَّوْقِ ،
|
| give him sanctuary from the gloom of loneliness,
|
وَ أَجِرْهُ مِنْ غَمِّ الْوَحْشَةِ ،
|
| make him forget the remembrance of wife and child,
|
وَ أَنْسِهِ ذِكْرَ الْأَهْلِ وَ الْوَلَدِ .
|
| 14- pass along to him an excellent intention,
|
14. وَ أْثُرْ لَهُ حُسْنَ النِّيَّةِ ،
|
| attend to him with well-being,
|
وَ تَوَلَّهُ بِالْعَافِيَةِ ،
|
| make safety his companion, release him from cowardice,
|
وَ أَصْحِبْهُ السَّلَامَةَ ، وَ أَعْفِهِ مِنَ الْجُبْنِ ،
|
| inspire him with boldness,
|
وَ أَلْهِمْهُ الْجُرْأَةَ ،
|
| provide him with strength,
|
وَ ارْزُقْهُ الشِّدَّةَ ،
|
| support him with help,
|
وَ أَيِّدْهُ بِالنُّصْرَةِ ،
|
| teach him right conduct and the norms of the Sunna,
|
وَ عَلِّمْهُ السِّيَرَ وَ السُّنَنَ ،
|
| point him straight in judgement,
|
وَ سَدِّدْهُ فِي الْحُكْمِ ،
|
| remove from him hypocrisy, purify him from seeking fame,
|
وَ اعْزِلْ عَنْهُ الرِّيَاءَ ، وَ خَلِّصْهُ مِنَ السُّمْعَةِ ،
|
| and make his thinking and remembrance, his departing and his staying, be in Thee and for Thee!
|
وَ اجْعَلْ فِكْرَهُ وَ ذِكْرَهُ وَ ظَعْنَهُ وَ إِقَامَتَهُ ، فِيكَ وَ لَكَ .
|
| 15- When he stands in ranks before Thy enemy and his enemy,
|
15. فَإِذَا صَافَّ عَدُوَّكَ وَ عَدُوَّهُ
|
| make them few in his eye,
|
فَقَلِّلْهُمْ فِي عَيْنِهِ ،
|
| diminish their importance in his heart,
|
وَ صَغِّرْ شَأْنَهُمْ فِي قَلْبِهِ ،
|
| Give him victory over them and do not defeat the enemies over him
|
وَ أَدِلْ لَهُ مِنْهُمْ ، وَ لَا تُدِلْهُمْ مِنْهُ ،
|
| But if Thou sealest him with felicity
|
فَإِنْ خَتَمْتَ لَهُ بِالسَّعَادَةِ ،
|
| and decreest for him martyrdom,
|
وَ قَضَيْتَ لَهُ بِالشَّهَادَةِ
|
| then let it be after he has exterminated Thy enemies by slaying,
|
فَبَعْدَ أَنْ يَجْتَاحَ عَدُوَّكَ بِالْقَتْلِ ،
|
| and captivity has afflicted them,
|
وَ بَعْدَ أَنْ يَجْهَدَ بِهِمُ الْأَسْرُ ،
|
| and the borders of the Muslims are secure,
|
وَ بَعْدَ أَنْ تَأْمَنَ أَطْرَافُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ ،
|
| and Thy enemy has turned his back in flight!
|
وَ بَعْدَ أَنْ يُوَلِّيَ عَدُوُّكَ مُدْبِرِينَ .
|
| 16- O God, and if a Muslim should take the place of a warrior or a soldier in his home,
|
16. اللَّهُمَّ وَ أَيُّمَا مُسْلِمٍ خَلَفَ غَازِياً أَوْ مُرَابِطاً فِي دَارِهِ ،
|
| or attend to those left behind in his absence,
|
أَوْ تَعَهَّدَ خَالِفِيهِ فِي غَيْبَتِهِ ،
|
| or help him with a portion of his property,
|
أَوْ أَعَانَهُ بِطَائِفَةٍ مِنْ مَالِهِ ،
|
| assist him with equipment, hone him for the struggle,
|
أَوْ أَمَدَّهُ بِعِتَادٍ ، أَوْ شَحَذَهُ عَلَى جِهَادٍ ،
|
| send along with him a supplication for his purpose,
|
أَوْ أَتْبَعَهُ فِي وَجْهِهِ دَعْوَةً ،
|
| or guard his honour in his absence,
|
أَوْ رَعَى لَهُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِ حُرْمَةً ،
|
| reward him with the like of his reward
|
فَآجِرْ لَهُ مِثْلَ أَجْرِهِ
|
| measure for measure, like for like,
|
وَزْناً بِوَزْنٍ وَ مِثْلًا بِمِثْلٍ ،
|
| and recompense him for his act with an immediate compensation
|
وَ عَوِّضْهُ مِنْ فِعْلِهِ عِوَضاً حَاضِراً
|
| through which he will hasten to the profit of what he has sent forth and the joy of what he has given,
|
يَتَعَجَّلُ بِهِ نَفْعَ مَا قَدَّمَ وَ سُرُورَ مَا أَتَى بِهِ ،
|
| till the present moment takes him to
|
إِلَى أَنْ يَنْتَهِيَ بِهِ الْوَقْتُ إِلَى
|
| the bounty Thou hast granted to him and the generosity Thou hast prepared for him!
|
مَا أَجْرَيْتَ لَهُ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ ، وَ أَعْدَدْتَ لَهُ مِنْ كَرَامَتِكَ .
|
| 17- O God, and if the affair of Islam should worry a Muslim
|
17. اللَّهُمَّ وَ أَيُّمَا مُسْلِمٍ أَهَمَّهُ أَمْرُ الْإِسْلَامِ ،
|
| and the alliance of the idolaters' against Islam should grieve him,
|
وَ أَحْزَنَهُ تَحَزُّبُ أَهْلِ الشِّرْكِ عَلَيْهِمْ
|
| so that he has the intention to go to war
|
فَنَوَى غَزْواً ،
|
| and is about to enter the struggle, but frailty keeps him seated,
|
أَوْ هَمَّ بِجِهَادٍ فَقَعَدَ بِهِ ضَعْفٌ ،
|
| neediness keeps him waiting,
|
أَوْ أَبْطَأَتْ بِهِ فَاقَةٌ ،
|
| a mishap delays him,
|
أَوْ أَخَّرَهُ عَنْهُ حَادِثٌ ،
|
| or an obstruction prevents him from his wish,
|
أَوْ عَرَضَ لَهُ دُونَ إِرَادَتِهِ مَانِعٌ
|
