Draft:Bajila Tribe

From wikishia

Bajīla is a prominent Arab Qahtanite tribe that, alongside the tribe of Khath'am, constitutes a branch of the Anmar.[1] The tribe's name—referenced in the poetry of al-Farazdaq[2]—is derived from Bajila, the daughter of Sa'b b. Sa'd al-'Ashira.[3]

The Bajila trace their lineage to Anmar b. Arash of the Khath'am tribe. The tribe's history is intertwined with significant conflicts, including the Battle of Jabala fought between Iranians and Arabs during the Year of the Elephant.[4] During the reign of Shapur II, the Bajalis joined other tribes in an incursion into Iraq but were ultimately repelled.[5] The Bajila were among the tribes that embraced Islam following the Conquest of Mecca. It is reported that Jarir b. 'Abd Allah al-Bajali led a delegation of tribesmen to the Holy Prophet (s) to accept Islam[6] and was subsequently commissioned by the Prophet to destroy Dhu l-Khalasa, an idol venerated jointly by the tribes of Daws, Khath'am, and Bajila.[7]

Jarir also commanded the Bajila contingent during the Battle of al-Qadisiyya.[8] During the caliphate of Imam Ali (a), the Bajalis participated in the battles of Jamal and Siffin. However, at Siffin, their allegiance was divided; one faction fought within the army of Ali (a), while another supported the forces of Sham.[9]
