The International Conference of Hazrat Abu Talib (a) was organized by the Ahl al-Bayt World Assembly to honor the personality and legacy of Abu Talib (a).[1] The event commenced on March 9, 2021, coinciding with the anniversary of the demise of Abu Talib (a), following a video message from Nasir Makarim Shirazi, a prominent Shia Marja'.[2] The ceremony, held at the Quds Hall of the Imam Khomeini School in Qom, was attended by scholars from Iran and numerous other countries.[3]

Key speakers at the opening session included Sayyid Hashim Husayni Bushihri, head of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom; Abbas Ka'bi, a professor at the Qom Seminary; Muhammad Hasan Akhtari, head of the Supreme Council of the Ahl al-Bayt World Assembly; Mahdi Ta'ib, head of the Ammar Strategic Base Council; Na'im Qasim, the then Deputy Secretary-General of Hizbullah of Lebanon; and Isa Ahmad Qasim, a distinguished scholar from Bahrain.[4]

The conference spanned three days, concluding on March 13, 2021.[5] The closing ceremony featured a video message from Husayn Nuri Hamadani, a Shia Marja'.[6] Prominent figures addressed the gathering regarding the character of Abu Talib (a), the Faith of Abu Talib, and his unwavering support for the Prophet (s). Speakers included Muhammad Hadi Yusufi Gharawi, head of the conference's scientific committee; Reza Ramezani, Secretary-General of the Ahl al-Bayt World Assembly; Sayyid Mundhir Hakim, head of the al-Dhurriyya al-Nabawiyya Research Institute; Badr al-Madani, a professor at Ez-Zitouna University in Tunisia; Muhammad Zubayr Sahibzada, head of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (Sunni); Sheikh Mahmud Akkam, the Mufti of Aleppo; and Muhammad Amin Shahidi, head of the Ummah Wahida Party of Pakistan.[7] The ceremony concluded with the recognition of authors who submitted top-ranking papers.[8]

Scholarly works accepted by the conference were published in a 33-volume compilation titled "Collection of Works of the International Conference of Hazrat Abu Talib (a) Protector of the Great Prophet (s)".[9] This collection comprises articles, books, interviews, poetry, and statements by prominent figures concerning Abu Talib.[10]

The first volume is dedicated to abstracts of articles in Persian and Arabic. The final volume contains articles in Urdu, Russian, and Portuguese, as well as abstracts of English contributions.[11]
