Text:Ziyara Ghadiriyya

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.	بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّ‌حْمَـٰنِ الرَّ‌حِيمِ
Peace be upon Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah,	ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ
the seal of the Prophets,	خَاتَمِ ٱلنَّبِيِّينَ
the chief of the Messengers,	وَسَيِّدِ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
and the choice of the Lord of the worlds,	وَصَفْوَةِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ
whom Allah has entrusted with His Revelations	أَمِينِ ٱللَّهِ عَلَىٰ وَحْيِهِ
and with His determined commandments,	وَعَزَائِمِ أَمْرِهِ
who sealed the previous Messages,	وَٱلْخَاتِمِ لِمَا سَبَقَ
paved the way to the coming blessings,	وَٱلْفَاتِحِ لِمَا ٱسْتُقْبِلَ
and who prevails over all that.	وَٱلْمُهَيْمِنِ عَلَىٰ ذٰلِكَ كُلِّهِ
May the mercy and blessings of Allah be upon him,	وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
benedictions and greetings as well.	وَصَلَوَاتُهُ وَتَحِيَّاتُهُ
Peace be upon the Prophets and Messengers of Allah,	ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَىٰ أَنْبِيَاءِ ٱللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِ
and upon His favorite angels,	وَمَلَائِكَتِهِ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ
and righteous servants.	وَعِبَادِهِ ٱلصَّالِحِينَ
Peace be upon you, O Commander of the Faithful,	ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا أَمِيرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
the chief of the successors,	وَسَيِّدَ ٱلْوَصِيِّينَ
the heir of the Prophets’ knowledge,	وَوَارِثَ عِلْمِ ٱلنَّبِيِّينَ
the friend of the Lord of the worlds,	وَوَلِيَّ رَبِّ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ
my master and the master of the believers.	وَمَوْلاَيَ وَمَوْلَىٰ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
May Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon you.	وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
Peace be upon you, O my master, O Commander of the Faithful,	ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلاَيَ يَا أَمِيرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
the trustee of Allah on His earth,	يَا أَمِينَ ٱللَّهِ فِي أَرْضِهِ
His envoy amongst His creatures,	وَسَفِيرَهُ فِي خَلْقِهِ
and His conclusive argument against His servants.	وَحُجَّتَهُ ٱلْبَالِغَةَ عَلَىٰ عِبَادِهِ
Peace be upon you, O true religion of Allah,	ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا دِينَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْقَوِيمَ
and His straight path.	وَصِرَاطَهُ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ
Peace be upon you, O the Great News,	ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبَأُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ
about whom they differ,	ٱلَّذِي هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ
and about whom they will be questioned.	وَعَنْهُ يُسْأَلُونَ
Peace be upon you, O Commander of the Faithful.	ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا أَمِيرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
You believed in Allah while they were polytheists,	آمَنْتَ بِٱللَّهِ وَهُمْ مُشْرِكُونَ
accepted the truth while they denied it,	وَصَدَّقْتَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَهُمْ مُكَذِّبُونَ
struggled in Allah's cause while they held back,	وَجَاهَدْتَ فِي ٱللَّهِ وَهُمْ مُحْجِمُونَ
and worshipped Allah with sincere devotion to Him	وَعَبَدْتَ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصاً لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ
remaining patient and reliant upon Him until certainty (death) came upon you.	صَابِراً مُحْتَسِباً حَتَّىٰ أَتَاكَ ٱلْيَقِينُ
Indeed, the curse of Allah is upon the wrongdoers.	أَلاَ لَعْنَةُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَىٰ ٱلظَّالِمِينَ
Peace be upon you, O leader of the Muslims,	ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا سَيِّدَ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ
and guide of the believers,	وَيَعْسُوبَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
and imam of the pious,	وَإِمَامَ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
and leader of the radiant ones.	وَقَائِدَ ٱلْغُرِّ ٱلْمُحَجَّلِينَ
May Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon you.	وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
I bear witness that you are the brother of the Messenger of Allah,	أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ أَخُو رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ
his successor and the heir of his knowledge,	وَوَصِيُّهُ وَوَارِثُ عِلْمِهِ
the trustee of his Divine Law,	وَأَمِينُهُ عَلَىٰ شَرْعِهِ
and his representative over his nation,	وَخَلِيفَتُهُ فِي أُمَّتِهِ
the first to believe in Allah,	وَأَوَّلُ مَنْ آمَنَ بِٱللَّهِ
and to confirm what was revealed to His Prophet.	وَصَدَّقَ بِمَا أُنْزِلَ عَلَىٰ نَبِيِّهِ
I also bear witness that he conveyed from Allah that which was revealed to him concerning you,	وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّهُ قَدْ بَلَّغَ عَنِ ٱللَّهِ مَا أَنْزَلَهُ فِيكَ
and he openly declared His command,	فَصَدَعَ بِأَمْرِهِ
and made it obligatory upon his nation to obey and follow you,	وَأَوْجَبَ عَلَىٰ أُمَّتِهِ فَرْضَ طَاعَتِكَ وَوِلَايَتِكَ
and took the covenant of allegiance for you from them,	وَعَقَدَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْبَيْعَةَ لَكَ
and made you more entitled to the believers than they are to themselves,	وَجَعَلَكَ أَوْلَىٰ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ
just as Allah had made him so.	كَمَا جَعَلَهُ ٱللَّهُ كَذٰلِكَ
He then asked Allah the All-Exalted to be the witness on them (in this respect),	ثُمَّ أَشْهَدَ ٱللَّهَ تَعَالَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ
Saying, “Have I conveyed?”	فَقَالَ: "أَلَسْتُ قَدْ بَلَّغْتُ؟"
They answered, “Yes, you have. We swear to it by Allah.”	فَقَالُوا: "ٱللَّهُمَّ بَلَىٰ."
He thus said, “O Allah, be the witness,	فَقَالَ: "ٱللَّهُمَّ ٱشْهَدْ،
And You are sufficient Witness and Judge between the servants.”	وَكَفَىٰ بِكَ شَهِيدًا وَحَاكِمًا بَيْنَ ٱلْعِبَادِ."
Hence, may Allah curse the one who denies allegiance to you after acknowledging it,	فَلَعَنَ ٱللَّهُ جَاحِدَ وِلَايَتِكَ بَعْدَ ٱلْإِقْرَارِ،
And the one who breaks his covenant with you after the pledge.	وَنَاكِثَ عَهْدِكَ بَعْدَ ٱلْمِيثَاقِ.
And I bear witness that you have fulfilled your pledge to Allah the Most High,	وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ وَفَّيْتَ بِعَهْدِ ٱللَّهِ تَعَالَىٰ،
And that Allah will also fulfill His covenant with you.	وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ تَعَالَىٰ مُوفٍ لَكَ بِعَهْدِهِ،
“Whoever fulfills what he has covenanted with Allah – He will grant him a mighty reward.”	"وَمَنْ أَوْفَىٰ بِمَا عَاهَدَ عَلَيْهُ ٱللَّهَ فَسَيُؤْتِيهِ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا."
And I bear witness that you are truly the Commander of the Faithful,	وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ أَمِيرُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٱلْحَقُّ،
Whose leadership was declared by Divine Revelation,	ٱلَّذِي نَطَقَ بِوِلَايَتِكَ ٱلتَّنْزِيلُ،
And the Messenger took a covenant from the people (regarding your leadership).	وَأَخَذَ لَكَ ٱلْعَهْدَ عَلَى ٱلْأُمَّةِ بِذَٰلِكَ ٱلرَّسُولُ.
And I bear witness that you, your uncle, and your brother,	وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ وَعَمَّكَ وَأَخَاكَ،
Are those who traded with Allah using your lives;	ٱلَّذِينَ تَاجَرْتُمُ ٱللَّهَ بِنُفُوسِكُمْ،
So Allah revealed about you:	فَأَنْزَلَ ٱللَّهُ فِيكُمْ:
“Surely, Allah has bought their souls and wealth from the believers in exchange for Paradise. They fight in the way of Allah, so they kill and are killed. It is a promise binding on Him in the Torah, the Gospel, and the Qur’an. And who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? Rejoice then in your bargain which you have made with Him – that is the supreme triumph.”	"إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ ٱشْتَرَىٰ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَأَمْوَالَهُم بِأَنَّ لَهُمُ ٱلْجَنَّةَ، يُقَاتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَيَقْتُلُونَ وَيُقْتَلُونَ، وَعْدًا عَلَيْهِ حَقًّا فِي ٱلتَّوْرَاةِ وَٱلْإِنجِيلِ وَٱلْقُرْآنِ، وَمَنْ أَوْفَىٰ بِعَهْدِهِ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ؟ فَٱسْتَبْشِرُوا۟ بِبَيْعِكُمُ ٱلَّذِي بَايَعْتُم بِهِ، وَذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ."
Those who turn to Allah in repentance, who worship Him, who praise Him, who journey in His cause, who bow and prostrate themselves, who enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong, and who guard the limits set by Allah – and give glad tidings to the believers.	ٱلتَّائِبُونَ، ٱلْعَابِدُونَ، ٱلْحَامِدُونَ، ٱلسَّائِحُونَ، ٱلرَّاكِعُونَ، ٱلسَّاجِدُونَ، ٱلْآمِرُونَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ، وَٱلنَّاهُونَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ، وَٱلْحَافِظُونَ لِحُدُودِ ٱللَّهِ، وَبَشِّرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
I bear witness, O Commander of the Faithful, that whoever doubts you has not truly believed in the Trustworthy Messenger,	أَشْهَدُ يَا أَمِيرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ، أَنَّ ٱلشَّاكَّ فِيكَ مَا آمَنَ بِٱلرَّسُولِ ٱلْأَمِينِ،
And whoever chooses someone other than you as a leader has indeed turned away from the straight religion,	وَأَنَّ ٱلْعَادِلَ بِكَ غَيْرَكَ عَانِدٌ عَنِ ٱلدِّينِ ٱلْقَوِيمِ،
Which our Lord, the Lord of the worlds, has chosen for us,	ٱلَّذِي ٱرْتَضَاهُ لَنَا رَبُّ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ،
And completed it with your leadership on the Day of Ghadir.	وَأَكْمَلَهُ بِوِلَايَتِكَ يَوْمَ ٱلْغَدِيرِ.
And I bear witness that you are the one intended in the saying of the Almighty, the Merciful:	وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ ٱلْمَعْنِيُّ بِقَوْلِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ:
“And this is My straight path, so follow it, and do not follow other paths lest they lead you away from His path.”	"وَأَنَّ هَٰذَا صِرَاطِي مُسْتَقِيمًا فَٱتَّبِعُوهُ، وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا ٱلسُّبُلَ فَتَفَرَّقَ بِكُمْ عَن سَبِيلِهِ."
By Allah, whoever follows anyone other than you has gone astray and led others astray,	ضَلَّ وَٱللَّهِ وَأَضَلَّ مَنِ ٱتَّبَعَ سِوَاكَ،
And whoever opposes you has rebelled against the truth.	وَعَنَدَ عَنِ ٱلْحَقِّ مَن عَادَاكَ.
O Allah, we have heard Your command, obeyed it, and followed Your straight path.	ٱللَّهُمَّ سَمِعْنَا لِأَمْرِكَ، وَأَطَعْنَا، وَٱتَّبَعْنَا صِرَاطَكَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ،
So guide us, our Lord, and do not let our hearts deviate after You have guided us to Your obedience,	فَٱهْدِنَا رَبَّنَا، وَلَا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا إِلَىٰ طَاعَتِكَ،
And make us among those who are grateful for Your blessings.	وَٱجْعَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلشَّاكِرِينَ لِنِعَمِكَ.
And I also bear witness that you have always been at variance with whimsical desires	وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ لَمْ تَزَلْ لِلْهَوَىٰ مُخَالِفاً
As you have always been in line with piety,	وَلِلتُّقَىٰ مُحَالِفاً
You have always been capable of suppressing your rage,	وَعَلَىٰ كَظْمِ ٱلْغَيْظِ قَادِراً
You have always forgiven and pardoned people,	وَعَنِ ٱلنَّاسِ عَافِياً غَافِراً
And when Allah is disobeyed, you have always been furious,	وَإِذَا عُصِيَ ٱللَّهُ سَاخِطاً
And when He is obeyed, you have always been pleased,	وَإِذَا أُطِيعَ ٱللَّهُ رَاضِياً
And you have always carried out what Allah has commissioned you to do,	وَبِمَا عَهِدَ إِلَيْكَ عَامِلاً
You have always observed what has been entrusted with you,	رَاعِياً لِمَا ٱسْتُحْفِظْتَ
You have always kept what has been confided to you,	حَافِظاً لِمَا ٱسْتُودِعْتَ
You have always conveyed what you were ordered to convey,	مُبَلِّغاً مَا حُمِّلْتَ
And you have always expected that which you were promised.	مُنْتَظِراً مَا وُعِدْتَ
And I bear witness that as you sometimes conceded some things, you did not do that on account of humiliation,	وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ مَا ٱتَّقَيْتَ ضَارِعاً
And as you sometimes did not demand with your right, you did not do that on account of fear,	وَلاَ أَمْسَكْتَ عَنْ حَقِّكَ جَازِعاً
And as you sometimes stopped combating those who usurped your right, you did not do so on account of weakness,	وَلاَ أَحْجَمْتَ عَنْ مُجَاهَدَةِ غَاصِبِيكَ نَاكِلاً
And as you (on a certain occasion) showed contentment to things to which Allah is not pleased, you did not do so on account of flattery,	وَلاَ أَظْهَرْتَ ٱلرِّضَا بِخِلاَفِ مَا يُرْضِي ٱللَّهَ مُدَاهِناً
And you have never been weakened by what befell you for the sake of Allah,	وَلاَ وَهَنْتَ لِمَا أَصَابَكَ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ
And you have never been feeble and you have never abased yourself as regards demanding with your rights on account of fear.	وَلاَ ضَعُفْتَ وَلاَ ٱسْتَكَنْتَ عَنْ طَلَبِ حَقِّكَ مُرَاقِباً
I seek Allah’s refuge against such claims;	مَعَاذَ ٱللَّهِ أَنْ تَكُونَ كَذٰلِكَ
Rather, when you were wronged, you relied upon your Lord in these questions	بَلْ إِذْ ظُلِمْتَ ٱحْتَسَبْتَ رَبَّكَ
And entrusted your affair to Him,	وَفَوَّضْتَ إِلَيْهِ أَمْرَكَ
And as you reminded them (of their allegiance to you), they did not regard it,	وَذَكَّرْتَهُمْ فَمَا ٱدَّكَرُوٱ
And as you preached them, they did not accept from you,	وَوَعَظْتَهُمْ فَمَا ٱتَّعَظُوٱ
And as you instructed them to fear Allah, they did not mind.	وَخَوَّفْتَهُمُ ٱللَّهَ فَمَا تَخَوَّفُوٱ
I also bear witness, O Commander of the Faithful,	وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ يَا أَمِيرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
That you strove in the way of Allah in the most appropriate way	جَاهَدْتَ فِي ٱللَّهِ حَقَّ جِهَادِهِ
Until Allah summoned you to be in His vicinity,	حَتَّىٰ دَعَاكَ ٱللَّهُ إِلَىٰ جِوَارِهِ
Chose to grasp you,	وَقَبَضَكَ إِلَيْهِ بِٱخْتِيَارِهِ
And established the argument against your enemies who killed you,	وَأَلزَمَ أَعْدَاءَكَ ٱلْحُجَّةَ بِقَتْلِهِمْ إِيَّاكَ
So that you should have argument against them,	لِتَكُونَ ٱلْحُجَّةُ لَكَ عَلَيْهِمْ
Although you enjoy conclusive arguments against all of His creatures.	مَعَ مَا لَكَ مِنَ ٱلْحُجَجِ ٱلْبَالِغَةِ عَلَىٰ جَمِيعِ خَلْقِهِ
Peace be upon you, O Commander of the Faithful.	اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا أَمِيرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
You have worshipped Allah sincerely,	عَبَدْتَ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصاً
Striven in the way of Allah steadfastly,	وَجَاهَدْتَ فِي ٱللَّهِ صَابِراً
Sacrificed yourself, seeking Allah’s judgment,	وَجُدْتَ بِنَفْسِكَ مُحْتَسِباً
Acted upon His Book,	وَعَمِلْتَ بِكِتَابِهِ
Followed His Prophet’s instructions,	وَٱتَّبَعْتَ سُنَّةَ نَبِيِّهِ
Performed the prayers,	وَأَقَمْتَ ٱلصَّلاةَ
Paid the zakat,	وَآتَيْتَ ٱلزَّكَاةَ
Enjoined what is right,	وَأَمَرْتَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ
And forbidden what is wrong as much as you could,	وَنَهَيْتَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنْكَرِ مَا ٱسْتَطَعْتَ
Seeking what is possessed by Allah	مُبْتَغِياً مَا عِنْدَ ٱللَّهِ
And desiring for that which Allah has promised.	رَاغِباً فِي مَا وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ
You have never cared for misfortunes,	لاَ تَحْفِلُ بِٱلنَّوَائِبِ
Never yielded to the hardships,	وَلاَ تَهِنُ عِنْدَ ٱلشَّدَائِدِ
And never stopped fighting against any warrior on account of fear.	وَلاَ تَحْجِمُ عَنْ مُحَارِبٍ
Indeed, whoever claims anything opposite to this to you is actually fabricating	أَفِكَ مَنْ نَسَبَ غَيْرَ ذٰلِكَ إِلَيْكَ
And is forging lies to you,	وَٱفْتَرَىٰ بَاطِلاً عَلَيْكَ
And whoever leaves your path is drawing himself near to destruction.	وَأَوْلَىٰ لِمَنْ عَنَدَ عَنْكَ
You have certainly striven in the way of Allah as exactly as required,	لَقَدْ جَاهَدْتَ فِي ٱللَّهِ حَقَّ ٱلْجِهَادِ
Stood harm for the sake of Allah,	وَصَبَرْتَ عَلَىٰ ٱلأَذَىٰ صَبْرَ ٱحْتِسَابٍ
Have been the foremost to believe in Allah,	وَأَنْتَ أَوَّلُ مَنْ آمَنَ بِٱللَّهِ
The first to offer prayer and to strive,	وَصَلَّىٰ لَهُ وَجَاهَدَ
And the first to expose himself in the land of the polytheists,	وَأَبْدَىٰ صَفْحَتَهُ فِي دَارِ ٱلشِّرْكِ

While the lands were suffocated with deviation,	وَٱلأَرْضُ مَشْحُونَةٌ ضَلالَةً
Satan was worshipped openly,	وَٱلشَّيْطَانُ يُعْبَدُ جَهْرَةً
And (in the midst of this) you said, “The big number of people that surround me shall never increase my might,	وَأَنْتَ ٱلْقَائِلُ: ”لاَ تَزِيدُنِي كَثْرَةُ ٱلنَّاسِ حَوْلِي عِزَّةً
Nor shall their departing me make me feel lonely.	وَلاَ تَفَرُّقُهُمْ عَنِّي وَحْشَةً
I thus shall never submit even if all peoples desert me.”	وَلَوْ أَسْلَمَنِيَ ٱلنَّاسُ جَمِيعاً لَمْ أَكُنْ مُتَضَرِّعاً.“
Because you resorted to Allah, you were the mightiest,	إِعْتَصَمْتَ بِٱللَّهِ فَعَزَزْتَ
And because you preferred the Next World to this worldly life, you have been ascetic.	وَآثَرْتَ ٱلآخِرَةَ عَلَىٰ ٱلأُولَىٰ فَزَهِدْتَ
Thus, Allah supported, guided,	وَأَيَّدَكَ ٱللَّهُ وَهَدَاكَ
chose, and selected you.	وَأَخْلَصَكَ وَٱجْتَبَاكَ
Your deeds were never contradictory,	فَمَا تَنَاقَضَتْ أَفْعَالُكَ
your words were never paradoxical,	وَلاَ ٱخْتَلَفَتْ أَقْوَالُكَ
your situations were never fickle,	وَلاَ تَقَلَّبَتْ أَحْوَالُكَ
you have never claimed falsely or forged lies against Allah,	وَلاَ ٱدَّعَيْتَ وَلاَ ٱفْتَرَيْتَ عَلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ كَذِباً
you have never been greedy for the wreckage of this world,	وَلاَ شَرِهْتَ إِلَىٰ ٱلْحُطَامِ
you have never been defiled by sins,	وَلاَ دَنَّسَكَ ٱلآثَامُ
you have always had manifest proof from your Lord,	وَلَمْ تَزَلْ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّكَ
and you have always been certain of what you do,	وَيَقِينٍ مِنْ أَمْرِكَ
as you used to guide to the right and to a straight path.	تَهْدِي إِلَىٰ ٱلْحَقِّ وَإِلَىٰ صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ
I bear true witness	أَشْهَدُ شَهَادَةَ حَقٍّ
and I truly swear by Allah	وَأُقْسِمُ بِٱللَّهِ قَسَمَ صِدْقٍ
that Muhammad and his Household—may Allah’s blessings be upon them—are the masters of all creatures	أَنَّ مُحَمَّداً وَآلَهُ صَلَوَاتُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْهِمْ سَادَاتُ ٱلْخَلْقِ
and you are indeed my master and the master of all believers,	وَأَنَّكَ مَوْلاَيَ وَمَوْلَىٰ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
the servant and friend of Allah,	وَأَنَّكَ عَبْدُ ٱللَّهِ وَوَلِيُّهُ
the brother, successor, and heir of the Messenger,	وَأَخُو ٱلرَّسُولِ وَوَصِيُّهُ وَوَارِثُهُ
who used to say to you,	وَأَنَّهُ ٱلْقَائِلُ لَكَ:
“I swear this by Him Who sent me with the truth: whoever denies you has never believed in me,	”وَٱلَّذِي بَعَثَنِي بِٱلْحَقِّ مَا آمَنَ بِي مَنْ كَفَرَ بِكَ
whoever rejects you has never confessed of Allah’s existence,	وَلاَ أَقَرَّ بِٱللَّهِ مَنْ جَحَدَكَ
whoever abandons you has actually strayed off,	وَقَدْ ضَلَّ مَنْ صَدَّ عَنْكَ
and whoever is not guided be you has never found the way to Allah or to me.	وَلَمْ يَهْتَدِ إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ وَلاَ إِلَيَّ مَنْ لاَ يَهْتَدِي بِكَ
Confirming this, my Lord the Almighty and All-majestic says,	وَهُوَ قَوْلُ رَبِّي عَزَّ وَجَلَّ:
‘Most surely, I am most Forgiving to him who repents and believes and does good,	«وَإِنِّي لَغَفَّارٌ لِمَنْ تَابَ وَآمَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحاً
then follows the right path.’ To follow the right path is to adhere to your Divinely commissioned leadership.”	ثُمَّ ٱهْتَدَىٰ» إِلَىٰ وِلايَتِكَ.“
O master, your favor cannot be concealed	مَوْلاَيَ فَضْلُكَ لاَ يَخْفَىٰ
and your light cannot be extinguished.	وَنُورُكَ لاَ يُطْفَأُ
Verily, he who rejects you shall be the most misfortunate wrongdoer.	وَأَنَّ مَنْ جَحَدَكَ ٱلظَّلُومُ ٱلأَشْقَىٰ
O master, you are the (Divine) claim against the servants,	مَوْلاَيَ أَنْتَ ٱلْحُجَّةُ عَلَىٰ ٱلْعِبَادِ
the guiding to uprightness,	وَٱلْهَادِي إِلَىٰ ٱلرَّشَادِ
and our means on the Promised Day.	وَٱلْعُدَّةُ لِلْمَعَادِ
O master, Allah has indeed elevated your standing in this world,	مَوْلاَيَ لَقَدْ رَفَعَ ٱللَّهُ فِي ٱلأُولَىٰ مَنْزِلَتَكَ
raised your rank in the Hereafter,	وَأَعْلَىٰ فِي ٱلآخِرَةِ دَرَجَتَكَ
and led you to that which has not been seen by those who antagonized you,	وَبَصَّرَكَ مَا عَمِيَ عَلَىٰ مَنْ خَالَفَكَ
those who stood between you and Allah’s gifts to you.	وَحَالَ بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَ مَوَاهِبِ ٱللَّهِ لَكَ
So, curse of Allah be upon those who violated your sanctity	فَلَعَنَ ٱللَّهُ مُسْتَحِلِّي ٱلْحُرْمَةِ مِنْكَ
and those who prevented you from taking your right.	وَذَائِدِي ٱلْحَقِّ عَنْكَ
I do bear witness that these are the biggest losers	وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّهُمُ ٱلْأَخْسَرُونَ
whose faces shall be scorched by Hellfire	ٱلَّذِينَ تَلْفَحُ وُجُوهَهُمُ ٱلنَّارُ
and they therein shall be in severe affliction.	وَهُمْ فِيهَا كَالِحُونَ
And I bear witness that whenever you did something or you avoided doing something,	وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ مَا أَقْدَمْتَ وَلاَ أَحْجَمْتَ
and whenever you said something or you kept silent;	وَلاَ نَطَقْتَ وَلاَ أَمْسَكْتَ
all these were by the order of Allah and His Messenger.	إِلاَّ بِأَمْرٍ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ
You thus said, “I swear this by Him Who grasps my soul:	قُلْتَ: ”وَٱلَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ،
when the Messenger of Allah—peace of Allah be upon him and his Household—	لَقَدْ نَظَرَ إِلَيَّ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ صَلَّى ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ
watched me striking (the enemies) with my sword ceaselessly, he said to me,	أَضْرِبُ بِٱلسَّيْفِ قُدْماً فَقَالَ:
‘O `Ali, your position to me is the same as (Prophet) Aaron’s position to (Prophet) Moses;	’يَا عَلِيُّ أَنْتَ مِنِّي بِمَنْزِلَةِ هَارُونَ مِنْ مُوسَىٰ
yet, there shall be no prophet after me.	إِلاَّ أَنَّهُ لاَ نَبِيَّ بَعْدِي
I would like to further inform you that your death and your lifestyle shall be with me and according to my instruction.’	وَأُعْلِمُكَ أَنَّ مَوْتَكَ وَحَيَاتَكَ مَعِي وَعَلَىٰ سُنَّتِي.‘
I swear by Allah that I have not told untruth and none shall belie me,	فَوَٱللَّهِ مَا كَذِبْتُ وَلاَ كُذِّبْتُ
and I have never strayed off and none shall ever mislead me,	وَلاَ ضَلَلْتُ وَلاَ ضُلِّ بِي
and I have never forgotten my Lord’s instructions to me,	وَلاَ نَسِيتُ مَا عَهِدَ إِلَيَّ رَبِّي
and I do follow the true path of my Lord that He showed His Prophet	وَإِنِّي لَعَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّي بَيَّنَهَا لِنَبِيِّهِ
and the Prophet showed me,	وَبَيَّنَهَا ٱلنَّبِيُّ لِي
and, most certainly, I am following the lucid path step by step.”	وَإِنِّي لَعَلَىٰ ٱلطَّرِيقِ ٱلْوَاضِحِ أَلْفِظُهُ لَفْظاً.“
By Allah I swear, true are your words and you have said nothing but the truth.	صَدَقْتَ وَٱللَّهِ وَقُلْتَ ٱلْحَقَّ
Curse of Allah be upon those who compare you to your enemies,	فَلَعَنَ ٱللَّهُ مَنْ سَاوَاكَ بِمَنْ نَاوَاكَ
while Allah, Whose Name be elevated, says,	وَٱللَّهُ جَلَّ ٱسْمُهُ يَقُولُ:
“Are those who know and those who do not know alike?”	”هَلْ يَسْتَوِي ٱلَّذِينَ يَعْلَمُونَ وَٱلَّذِينَ لاَ يَعْلَمُون؟“
So, the curse of Allah be upon those who compared you to those whom Allah has ordered to follow your leadership,	فَلَعَنَ ٱللَّهُ مَنْ عَدَلَ بِكَ مَنْ فَرَضَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وِلايَتَكَ
while you are the friend of Allah,	وَأَنْتَ وَلِيُّ ٱللَّهِ
the brother of His Messenger,	وَأَخُو رَسُولِهِ
the defender of His religion,	وَٱلذَّابُّ عَنْ دِينِهِ
and the one whose preference (to all others) has been declared by the Qur'an;	وَٱلَّذِي نَطَقَ ٱلْقُرْآنُ بِتَفْضِيلِهِ
hence, Almighty Allah says,	قَالَ ٱللَّهُ تَعَالَىٰ:
“And Allah shall grant to the strivers above the holders back a mighty reward.	”وَفَضَّلَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُجَاهِدِينَ عَلَىٰ ٱلْقَاعِدِينَ أَجْراً عَظِيماً.
(High) degrees from Him, protection, and mercy.	دَرَجَاتٍ مِنْهُ وَمَغْفِرَةً وَرَحْمَةً
And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.”	وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُوراً رَحِيماً.“
O Allah, We do realize that this is the truth whose source is You.	اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هٰذَا هُوَ ٱلْحَقُّ مِنْ عِنْدِكَ
So, curse those who object, act arrogantly (towards it),	فَٱلْعَنْ مَنْ عَارَضَهُ وَٱسْتَكْبَرَ
belie, and deny it.	وَكَذَّبَ بِهِ وَكَفَرَ
And they who act unjustly shall know to what final place of turning they shall turn back.	وَسَيَعْلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٱ أَيَّ مُنْقَلَبٍ يَنْقَلِبُونَ
Peace be upon you, O Commander of the Faithful,	اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا أَمِيرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
chief of the Prophets’ successors	وَسَيِّدَ ٱلْوَصِيِّينَ
foremost of the worshippers,	وَأَوَّلَ ٱلْعَابِدِينَ
and most ascetic.	وَأَزْهَدَ ٱلزَّاهِدِينَ
May Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon you.	وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
So be His peace and compliments.	وَصَلَوَاتُهُ وَتَحِيَّاتُهُ
It is you who served a poor man, an orphan, and a prisoner with food on account of your love for Him,	أَنْتَ مُطْعِمُ ٱلطَّعَامِ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِ مِسْكِيناً وَيَتِيماً وَأَسِيراً
(you did so) for the sake of Allah, while you did not ask for reward or thanks.	لِوَجْهِ ٱللَّهِ لاَ تُرِيدُ مِنْهُمْ جَزَاءً وَلاَ شُكُوراً
Hence, Almighty Allah has revealed the following about you:	وَفِيكَ أَنْزَلَ ٱللَّهُ تَعَالَىٰ:
“And they prefer them to themselves though poverty may afflict them.	”وَيُؤْثِرُونَ عَلَىٰ أَنْفُسِهِمْ وَلَوْ كَانَ بِهِمْ خَصَاصَةٌ
And whoever is preserved from the niggardliness of his soul, these it is that are the successful ones.”	وَمَنْ يُوقَ شُحَّ نَفْسِهِ فَأُولٰئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ.“
Verily, it is you who is the suppressor of rage	وَأَنْتَ ٱلْكَاظِمُ لِلْغَيْظِ
and it is you who is the pardoner of people,	وَٱلْعَافِي عَنِ ٱلنَّاسِ
and Allah loves the good-doers.	وَٱللَّهُ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
It is also you who is the steadfast in distress and affliction, as well as in times of conflicts.	وَأَنْتَ ٱلصَّابِرُ فِي ٱلْبَأْسَاءِ وَٱلضَّرَّاءِ وَحِينَ ٱلْبَأْسِ
And it is you who distributes things completely equally,	وَأَنْتَ ٱلْقَاسِمُ بِٱلسَّوِيَّةِ
who is just among the subjects,	وَٱلْعَادِلُ فِي ٱلرَّعِيَّةِ
and the one having full acquaintance with the laws of Allah among all people.	وَٱلْعَالِمُ بِحُدُودِ ٱللَّهِ مِنْ جَمِيعِ ٱلْبَرِيَّةِ
Informing about the favors that He has conferred upon you, Allah the All-exalted says,	وَٱللَّهُ تَعَالَىٰ أَخْبَرَ عَمَّا أَوْلاَكَ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ بِقَوْلِهِ:
“Is he then who is a believer like him who is a transgressor?	”أَفَمَنْ كَانَ مُؤْمِناً كَمَنْ كَانَ فَاسِقاً؟
They are not equal.	لاَ يَسْتَوُونَ.
As for those who believe and do good,	أَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ آمَنُوٱ وَعَمِلُوٱ ٱلصَّالِحَاتِ
the gardens of Paradise are their abiding-place; an entertainment for what they did.”	فَلَهُمْ جَنَّاتُ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ نُزُلاً بِمَا كَانُوٱ يَعْمَلُونَ.“
It is you to whom the knowledge of the Divine Revelation is given exclusively	وَأَنْتَ ٱلْمَخْصُوصُ بِعِلْمِ ٱلتَّنْزِيلِ
as well as the laws of true interpretation (of the Holy Qur'an)	وَحُكْمِ ٱلتَّأْوِيلِ
and the words of the Messenger.	وَنَصِّ ٱلرَّسُولِ
You are known for your unforgettable situations,	وَلَكَ ٱلْمَوَاقِفُ ٱلْمَشْهُودَةُ
renowned positions,	وَٱلْمَقَامَاتُ ٱلْمَشْهُورَةُ
and memorable events,	وَٱلأَيَّامُ ٱلْمَذْكُورَةُ
in the Battle of Badr and the Battle of the Allies (al-Ahzab):	يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ وَيَوْمَ ٱلأَحْزَابِ:
“When the eyes turned dull, and the hearts rose up to the throats,	”إِذْ زَاغَتِ ٱلأَبْصَارُ وَبَلَغَتِ ٱلْقُلُوبُ ٱلْحَنَاجِرَ
and you began to think diverse thoughts of Allah.	وَتَظُنّونَ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلظّنُونَٱ
There, the believers were tried and they were shaken with severe shaking.	هُنَالِكَ ٱبْتُلِيَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَزُلْزِلُوٱ زِلْزَالاً شَدِيداً.
And when the hypocrites and those in whose hearts was a disease began to say:	وَإِذْ يَقُولُ ٱلْمُنَافِقُونَ وَٱلَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ مَرَضٌ:
Allah and His Messenger did not promise us (victory) but only to deceive.’	مَا وَعَدَنَا ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ إِلاَّ غُرُوراً.
And when a party of them said,	وَإِذْ قَالَتْ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْهُمْ:
‘O people of Yathrib! There is no place to stand for you here; therefore, go back.’	يَا أَهْلَ يَثْرِبَ لاَ مُقَامَ لَكُمْ فَٱرْجِعُوٱ
And a party of them asked permission of the prophet,	وَيَسْتَأْذِنُ فَرِيقٌ مِنْهُمُ ٱلنَّبِيَّ
saying: ‘Surely, our houses are exposed.’	يَقُولُونَ إِنَّ بُيُوتَنَا عَوْرَةٌ
And they were not exposed; they only desired to fly away.”	وَمَا هِيَ بِعَوْرَةٍ إِنْ يُرِيدُونَ إِلاَّ فِرَاراً.“
Almighty Allah has also said:	وَقَالَ ٱللَّهُ تَعَالَىٰ:
“And when the believers saw the allies, they said:	”وَلَمَّا رَأَىٰ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ٱلأَحْزَابَ قَالُوٱ:
‘This is what Allah and His Messenger promised us.	هٰذَا مَا وَعَدَنَا ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ
And Allah and His Messenger spoke the truth.’	وَصَدَقَ ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ؛
And it only increased them in faith and submission.”	وَمَا زَادَهُمْ إِلاَّ إِيـمَاناً وَتَسْلِيماً.“
On that day, you (O `Ali) killed their knight, `Amr (ibn `Abd-Wadd)	فَقَتَلْتَ عَمْرَوهُمْ
and defeated their allies:	وَهَزَمْتَ جَمْعَهُمْ
“And Allah turned back the unbelievers in their rage.	”وَرَدَّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٱ بِغَيْظِهِمْ
They did not obtain any advantage.	لَمْ يَنَالُوٱ خَيْراً
And Allah sufficed the believers in fighting.	وَكَفَىٰ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٱلْقِتَالَ
And Allah is Strong, Mighty.”	وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ قَوِيّاً عَزِيزاً.“
On the Battle of Uhud: “When they ran off precipitately and did not wait for any one	وَيَوْمَ أُحُدٍ: ”إِذْ يُصْعِدُونَ وَلاَ يَلْوُونَ عَلَىٰ أَحَدٍ
and the Messenger was calling them from their rear.”	وَٱلرَّسُولُ يَدْعُوهُمْ فِي أُخْرَاهُمْ.“
And you were engaged in preventing the polytheists from reaching the Prophet,	وَأَنْتَ تَذُودُ بِهِمُ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ عَنِ ٱلنَّبِيِّ
on both sides—the right and the left,	ذَاتَ ٱلْيَمِينِ وَذَاتَ ٱلشِّمَالِ
until Almighty Allah drove them back, full of fear.	حَتَّىٰ رَدَّهُمُ ٱللَّهُ تَعَالَىٰ عَنْكُمَا خَائِفِينَ
Hence, He gave victory, by means of you, to the disappointing ones.	وَنَصَرَ بِكَ ٱلْخَاذِلِينَ

On the Battle of Hunayn, as is accounted by the Divine Revelation:	وَيَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ عَلَىٰ مَا نَطَقَ بِهِ ٱلتَّنْزِيلُ:
“When your great numbers made you vain, but they availed you nothing.	”إِذْ أَعْجَبَتْكُمْ كَثْرَتُكُمْ فَلَمْ تُغْنِ عَنْكُمْ شَيْئاً
And the earth became strait to you notwithstanding its spaciousness,	وَضَاقَتْ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضُ بِمَا رَحُبَتْ
then you turned back retreating.	ثُمَّ وَلَّيْتُمْ مُدْبِرِينَ.
Then, Allah sent down His tranquility upon His Messenger and upon the believers.”	ثُمَّ أَنْزَلَ ٱللَّهُ سَكِينَتَهُ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِ وَعَلَىٰ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ.“
“The believers” were you and your party.	وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ أَنْتَ وَمَنْ يَلِيكَ
You uncle, al-`Abbas, was calling at the defeated party:	وَعَمُّكَ ٱلْعَبَّاسُ يُنَادِي ٱلْمُنْهَزِمِينَ:
“O companions of Surah al-Baqarah!	يَا أَصْحَابَ سُورَةِ ٱلْبَقَرَةِ
O owners of the Allegiance of the Tree!”	يَا أَهْلَ بَيْعَةِ ٱلشَّجَرَةِ
He still shouted until a group responded to him, and it was you who replaced them in fighting,	حَتَّىٰ ٱسْتَجَابَ لَهُ قَوْمٌ قَدْ كَفَيْتَهُمُ ٱلْمَؤُونَةَ
and it was you who aided the Prophet instead of them.	وَتَكَفَّلْتَ دُونَهُمُ ٱلْمَعُونَةَ
They therefore returned free from reward,	فَعَادُوٱ آيِسِينَ مِنَ ٱلْمَثُوبَةِ
and hoping for repentance, as was promised by Almighty Allah.	رَاجِينَ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ تَعَالَىٰ بِٱلتَّوْبَةِ
He, majestic be His mention, says,	وَذٰلِكَ قَوْلُ ٱللَّهِ جَلَّ ذِكْرُهُ:
“Then will Allah, after this, turn mercifully to whom He pleases.”	”ثُمَّ يَتُوبُ ٱللَّهُ مِنْ بَعْدِ ذٰلِكَ عَلَىٰ مَنْ يَشَاءُ.“
As for you, you were awarded the rank of steadfastness	وَأَنْتَ حَائِزٌ دَرَجَةَ ٱلصَّبْرِ
and prized the great reward.	فَائِزٌ بِعَظِيمِ ٱلأَجْرِ
On the Battle of Khaybar, when Allah exposed the cowardice of the hypocrites	وَيَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ إِذْ أَظْهَرَ ٱللَّهُ خَوَرَ ٱلْمُنَافِقِينَ
and cut off the roots of the atheists,	وَقَطَعَ دَابِرَ ٱلْكَافِرِينَ
so, all praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds (for that):	وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِ الْعَالَمِينَ:
“And, certainly, they had made a covenant with Allah before, that they would not turn their backs.	”وَلَقَدْ كَانُوٱ عَاهَدُوٱ ٱللَّهَ مِنْ قَبْلُ لاَ يُوَلُّونَ ٱلْأَدْبَارَ
And Allah's covenant shall be inquired of.”	وَكَانَ عَهْدُ ٱللَّهِ مَسْؤُولاً.“
O master, you are the conclusive argument (of Allah),	مَوْلاَيَ أَنْتَ ٱلْحُجَّةُ ٱلْبَالِغَةُ
the clear course,	وَٱلْمَحَجَّةُ ٱلْوَاضِحَةُ
the poured grace,	وَٱلنِّعْمَةُ ٱلسَّابِغَةُ
and the radiant evidence	وَٱلْبُرْهَانُ ٱلْمُنِيرُ
So, congratulations, for the favors that Allah has given you.	فَهَنِيئاً لَكَ بِمَا آتَاكَ ٱللَّهُ مِنْ فَضْلٍ
perdition overtake your enemies, the ignorant!	وَتَبّاً لِشَانِئِكَ ذِي ٱلْجَهْلِ
You presented yourself with the Prophet—peace be upon him and his Household—	شَهِدْتَ مَعَ ٱلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ
during all battles and expeditions that he led;	جَمِيعَ حُرُوبِهِ وَمَغَازِيهِ
you always carried the pennon with him	تَحْمِلُ ٱلرَّايَةَ أَمَامَهُ
and stroke (the enemies) with your sword before him.	وَتَضْرِبُ بِٱلسَّيْفِ قُدَّامَهُ
Then, due to your prominent determination	ثُمَّ لِحَزْمِكَ ٱلْمَشْهُورِ
and your sagacity in all affairs,	وَبَصِيرَتِكَ فِي ٱلأُمُورِ
he (i.e. the Prophet) appointed you as the commander on all occasions,	أَمَّرَكَ فِي ٱلْمَوَاطِنِ
and you were never under the commandment of another.	وَلَمْ يَكُنْ عَلَيْكَ أَمِيرٌ
On many occasions, your piety prevented you from doing what you had decided about a matter,	وَكَمْ مِنْ أَمْرٍ صَدَّكَ عَنْ إِمْضَاءِ عَزْمِكَ فِيهِ ٱلتُّقَىٰ
while your rival followed his (personal) lust and committed that matter.	وَٱتَّبَعَ غَيْرُكَ فِي مِثْلِهِ ٱلْهَوَىٰ
Thus, the ignorant ones thought that you were incapable of doing that which had been done by your rival!	فَظَنَّ ٱلْجَاهِلُونَ أَنَّكَ عَجَزْتَ عَمَّا إِلَيْهِ ٱنْتَهَىٰ
I swear by Allah that any one who thought so had missed the right thing and had never found the true guidance.	ضَلَّ وَٱللَّهِ الظَّانُّ لِذٰلِكَ وَمَا ٱهْتَدَىٰ
However, you clarified the misunderstanding in which those who fancied and doubted fell	وَلَقَدْ أَوْضَحْتَ مَا أَشْكَلَ مِنْ ذٰلِكَ لِمَنْ تَوَهَّمَ وَٱمْتَرَىٰ
by your saying—may Allah’s peace be upon you:	بِقَوْلِكَ صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْكَ:
“One who has been through thick and thin of life finds the excuses	”قَدْ يَرَىٰ ٱلْحُوَّلُ ٱلْقُلَّبُ وَجْهَ ٱلْحِيلَةِ
to be preventing him from orders and prohibitions of Allah,	وَدُونَهَا حَاجِزٌ مِنْ تَقْوَىٰ ٱللَّهِ
but he disregards them despite capability (to succumb to them and instead follows the commands of Allah),	فَيَدَعُهَا رَأْيَ ٱلْعَيْنِ
while one who has no restraints of religion seizes the opportunity (and accepts the excuses for not following the commands of Allah).”	وَيَنْتَهِزُ فُرْصَتَهَا مَنْ لاَ حَرِيجَةَ لَهُ فِي ٱلدِّينِ.“
You have said the very truth; I swear it by Allah, and the followers of vanity are indeed losers.	صَدَقْتَ وَٱللَّهِ وَخَسِرَ ٱلْمُبْطِلُونَ
And when the two preachers (of their allegiance) tried to deceive you;	وَإِذْ مَاكَرَكَ ٱلنَّاكِثَانِ
and said, “We want to go on `umrah!”	فَقَالاَ: نُرِيدُ ٱلْعُمْرَةَ.
You thus answered them, “I swear by your lives; you do not want to go on `umrah;	فَقُلْتَ لَهُمَا: لَعَمْرُكُمَا مَا تُرِيدَانِ ٱلْعُمْرَةَ
rather, you want to betray me!”	لَكِنْ تُرِيدَانِ ٱلْغَدْرَةَ.
Hence, you made covenant with them again	فَأَخَذْتَ ٱلْبَيْعَةَ عَلَيْهِمَا
and you renewed their allegiance to you;	وَجَدَّدْتَ ٱلْمِيثَاقَ
but they exerted all efforts to act hypocritically.	فَجَدَّا فِي ٱلنِّفَاقِ
And when you drew their attentions to this act, they neglected, redid it again, and did not follow your advice.	فَلَمَّا نَبَّهْتَهُمَا عَلَىٰ فِعْلِهِمَا أَغْفَلاَ وَعَادَا وَمَا ٱنْتَفَعَا
Thus, their end result was loss.	وَكَانَ عَاقِبَةُ أَمْرِهِمَا خُسْراً
After them, the people of Syria (mutinied)!	ثُمَّ تَلاَهُمَا أَهْلُ ٱلشَّامِ
So, you went to fight them after you had provided all excuses,	فَسِرْتَ إِلَيْهِمْ بَعْدَ ٱلْإِعْذَارِ
while they did not follow the true religion	وَهُمْ لاَ يَدِينُونَ دِينَ ٱلْحَقِّ
neither did they understand the Qur'an.	وَلاَ يَتَدَبَّرُونَ ٱلْقُرْآنَ
They were rabble, rot, and deviants,	هَمَجٌ رُعَاعٌ ضَالُّونَ
and they were unbelievers in what was revealed to Muhammad about your leadership,	وَبِٱلَّذِي أُنْزِلَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ فِيكَ كَافِرُونَ
and they were supporters of those who antagonized you.	وَلأَهْلِ ٱلْخِلاَفِ عَلَيْكَ نَاصِرُونَ
While, Almighty Allah ordered everyone to follow you	وَقَدْ أَمَرَ ٱللَّهُ تَعَالَىٰ بِٱتِّبَاعِكَ
and instructed the believers to support you.	وَنَدَبَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِلَىٰ نَصْرِكَ
He, the Almighty and All-majestic, has said in this respect:	وَقَالَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ:
“O you who believe!	”يَا أَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ آمَنُوٱ
Be careful of your duty to Allah, and be with the truthful.”	ٱتَّقُوٱ ٱللَّهَ وَكُونُوٱ مَعَ ٱلصَّادِقِينَ.“
O master, through you did the right manifest itself,	مَوْلاَيَ بِكَ ظَهَرَ ٱلْحَقُّ
but the people discarded it.	وَقَدْ نَبَذَهُ ٱلْخَلْقُ
And you made clear the (Prophetic) traditions after they had been eradicated and confused.	وَأَوْضَحْتَ ٱلسُّنَنَ بَعْدَ ٱلدُّرُوسِ وَٱلطَّمْسِ
Hence, you enjoy the priority of struggling for the sake of confirming the Divine Revelation,	فَلَكَ سَابِقَةُ ٱلْجِهَادِ عَلَىٰ تَصْدِيقِ ٱلتَّنْزِيلِ
and you enjoy the virtue of struggling for the sake of confirming the true interpretation (of the Divine Revelation).	وَلَكَ فَضِيلَةُ ٱلْجِهَادِ عَلَىٰ تَحْقِيقِ ٱلتَّأْوِيلِ
Your enemy is in fact the enemy of Allah and the denier of Allah’s Messenger.	وَعَدُوُّكَ عَدُوُّ ٱللَّهِ جَاحِدٌ لِرَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ
Your enemy thus calls for vanity, judges unfairly,	يَدْعُو بَاطِلاً وَيَحْكُمُ جَائِراً
usurps the position of rule, and drives his fans to Hellfire.	وَيَتَأَمَّرُ غَاصِباً وَيَدْعُو حِزْبَهُ إِلَىٰ ٱلنَّارِ
While `Ammar (ibn Yasir) strove and called at the two parties (of the battle):	وَعَمَّارٌ يُجَاهِدُ وَيُنَادِي بَيْنَ ٱلصَّفَّيْنِ:
“How eager I am to join Paradise!”	”الرَّوَاحَ ٱلرَّوَاحَ إِلَىٰ ٱلْجَنَّةِ.“
When he then asked for a drink, he was served with a drink of milk; he thus shouted, glorifying Allah, and said:	وَلَمَّا ٱسْتَسْقَىٰ فَسُقِيَ ٱللَّبَنَ كَبَّرَ وَقَالَ:
“The Messenger of Allah—peace of Allah be upon him and his Household—did say to me:	”قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ:
‘The last drink that you will have in this world is a cup of milk,	’آخِرُ شَرَابِكَ مِنَ ٱلدُّنْيَا ضَيَاحٌ مِنْ لَبَنٍ
and the transgressing party will kill you.’”	وَتَقْتُلُكَ ٱلْفِئَةُ ٱلْبَاغِيَةُ.‘“
Thus, Abu’l-`Adiyah al-Fazari faced and killed him.	فَٱعْتَرَضَهُ أَبُو ٱلْعَادِيَةِ ٱلْفَزَارِيُّ فَقَتَلَهُ
The curse of Allah	فَعَلَىٰ أَبِي ٱلْعَادِيَةِ لَعْنَةُ ٱللَّهِ
and the curse of all His angels and Messengers be upon this Abu’l-`Adiyah,	وَلَعْنَةُ مَلاَئِكَتِهِ وَرُسُلِهِ أَجْمَعِينَ
upon any one who unsheathed a sword against you,	وَعَلَىٰ مَنْ سَلَّ سَيْفَهُ عَلَيْكَ
and upon any one against whom you unsheathed your sword—	وَسَلَلْتَ سَيْفَكَ عَلَيْهِ
O Commander of the Faithful—	يَا أَمِيرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
(Curse be upon) the polytheists and the hypocrites up to the Religion Day.	مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ وَٱلْمُنَافِقِينَ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
Curse be also upon anyone who is pleased by whatever upsets you,	وَعَلَىٰ مَنْ رَضِيَ بِمَا سَاءَكَ
and curse be upon anyone who is not passive for whatever upsets you and upon anyone who bypasses and does not deny,	وَلَمْ يَكْرَهْهُ وَأَغْمَضَ عَيْنَهُ وَلَمْ يُنْكِرْ
and upon anyone who supports your rivals by deeds or words,	أَوْ أَعَانَ عَلَيْكَ بِيَدٍ أَوْ لِسَانٍ
and upon anyone who fails to support you,	أَوْ قَعَدَ عَنْ نَصْرِكَ
and upon anyone who slackens to fight with you,	أَوْ خَذَلَ عَنِ ٱلْجِهَادِ مَعَكَ
and upon anyone who despises your merits,	أَوْ غَمَطَ فَضْلَكَ
and upon anyone who denies your right,	وَجَحَدَ حَقَّكَ
and upon anyone who leaves you and joins one upon whom Almighty Allah has given you priority.	أَوْ عَدَلَ بِكَ مَنْ جَعَلَكَ ٱللَّهُ أَوْلَىٰ بِهِ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ
Allah’s peace, mercy, and blessings,	وَصَلَوَاتُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكَ وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
compliments, and greetings	وَسَلامُهُ وَتَحِيَّاتُهُ
be upon you and upon the Imams from your Immaculate Household.	وَعَلَىٰ ٱلأَئِمَّةِ مِنْ آلِكَ ٱلطَّاهِرِينَ
Verily, Allah is Praised and Glorious.	إِنَّهُ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ.
What is more astounding	وَالأَمْرُ ٱلْأَعْجَبُ
and more horrible than usurping your right	وَٱلْخَطْبُ ٱلْأَفْظَعُ بَعْدَ جَحْدِكَ حَقَّكَ
is the usurpation of Fadak from the veracious, pure, and luminous Lady, the doyenne of the women of the world!	غَصْبُ ٱلصِّدِّيقَةِ ٱلطَّاهِرَةِ ٱلزَّهْرَاءِ سَيِّدَةِ ٱلنِّسَاءِ فَدَكاً
As well as the rejection of your testimony and the testimonies of the two masters—your descendants,	وَرَدُّ شَهَادَتِكَ وَشَهَادَةِ ٱلسَّيِّدَيْنِ سُلالَتِكَ
and the Household of the Chosen Prophet, may Allah’s peace be upon you all.	وَعِتْرَةِ ٱلْمُصْطَفَىٰ صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ
Whereas Almighty Allah has elevated you in rank over the nation,	وَقَدْ أَعْلَىٰ ٱللَّهُ تَعَالَىٰ عَلَىٰ ٱلأُمَّةِ دَرَجَتَكُمْ
raised your positions,	وَرَفَعَ مَنْزِلَتَكُمْ
and demonstrated your preference and honorable favorability over all the created beings.	وَأَبَانَ فَضْلَكُمْ وَشَرَفَكُمْ عَلَىٰ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ
Thus, He removed filth from you and purified you with the most thorough purification	فَأَذْهَبَ عَنْكُمُ ٱلرِّجْسَ وَطَهَّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيراً
Allah the Almighty and All-majestic says:	قَالَ ٱللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ:
“Indeed, man is created of a hasty temperament.	“إِنَّ ٱلإِنْسَانَ خُلِقَ هَلُوعاً.
Being greatly grieved when evil afflicts him	إِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلشَّرُّ جَزُوعاً.
and niggardly when good befalls him,	وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلْخَيْرُ مَنُوعاً.
except those who pray.”	إِلَّا ٱلْمُصَلِّينَ.“
Hence, Almighty Allah has excluded His Chosen Prophet	فَٱسْتَثْنَىٰ ٱللَّهُ تَعَالَىٰ نَبِيَّهُ ٱلْمُصْطَفَىٰ
you, the chief of the Prophets’ successors, from among all His beings.	وَأَنْتَ يَا سَيِّدَ ٱلْأَوْصِيَاءِ مِنْ جَمِيعِ ٱلْخَلْقِ
How deviant from the right he who has wronged you is!	فَمَا أَعْمَهَ مَنْ ظَلَمَكَ عَنِ ٱلْحَقِّ
They then deceptively decided the share of ‘Near of Kin’ to be for you,	ثُمَّ أَفْرَضُوكَ سَهْمَ ذَوِي ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ مَكْراً
after they wrongly deprived its meritorious people of it.	وَأَحَادُوهُ عَنْ أَهْلِهِ جَوْراً
When the matter (of rule) was returned to you, you continued carrying out what they had decided,	فَلَمَّا آلَ ٱلْأَمْرُ إِلَيْكَ أَجْرَيْتَهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَا أَجْرَيَا
because you desired for what is stored by Allah for you.	رَغْبَةً عَنْهُمَا بِمَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ لَكَ
Your ordeals are thus similar to the ordeals encountered by the Prophets, peace be upon them,	فَأَشْبَهَتْ مِحْنَتُكَ بِهِمَا مِحَنَ ٱلْأَنْبِيَاءِ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّلاَمُ
who also faced loneliness and absence of supporters.	عِندَ ٱلْوَحْدَةِ وَعَدَمِ ٱلْأَنْصَارِ
As you replaced the Prophet by spending that night on his bed instead of him, this situation was similar to the situation of the self-sacrificing Prophet, peace be upon him.	وَأَشْبَهْتَ فِي ٱلْبَيَاتِ عَلَىٰ الْفِرَاشِ ٱلذَّبِيحَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلاَمُ
Because you responded (to the Prophet’s order) in the same way as he (i.e. Prophet Ismail) responded (to his father’s request),	إِذْ أَجَبْتَ كَمَا أَجَابَ
and you obeyed the Prophet in the same way as (Prophet) Ismail obeyed with steadfastness and reliance upon Allah.	وَأَطَعْتَ كَمَا أَطَاعَ إِسْمَاعِيلُ صَابِراً مُحْتَسِباً
Hence, when his father said to him, ‘O my son! Surely, I have seen in a dream that I should sacrifice you;	إِذْ قَالَ لَهُ: يَا بُنَيَّ إِنِّي أَرَىٰ فِي ٱلْمَنَامِ أَنِّي أَذْبَحُكَ
consider then what you see.’	فَٱنْظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَىٰ.
He said, ‘O my father! Do what you are commanded;	قَالَ: يَا أَبَتِ ٱفْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ
if Allah please, you will find me of the patient ones.’	سَتَجِدُنِي إِنْ شَاءَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّابِرِينَ.
The same situation with you, when the Prophet—peace be upon him and his Household—chose you to replace him,	وَكَذٰلِكَ أَنْتَ لَمَّا أَبَاتَكَ ٱلنَّبِيُّ صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ
and ordered you to sleep in his bed instead of him	وَأَمَرَكَ أَنْ تَضْجَعَ فِي مَرْقَدِهِ
so that you should protect him by sacrificing yourself for him,	وَاقِياً لَهُ بِنَفْسِكَ
you quickly responded to his request with obedience,	أَسْرَعْتَ إِلَىٰ إِجَابَتِهِ مُطِيعاً
by exposing yourself to killing fearlessly.	وَلِنَفْسِكَ عَلَىٰ الْقَتْلِ مُوَطِّناً

So, Allah the All-exalted appreciated this obedience to him	فَشَكَرَ ٱللَّهُ تَعَالَىٰ طَاعَتَكَ
and He, majestic be His mention, declared your excellent deed by saying:	وَأَبَانَ عَنْ جَمِيلِ فِعْلِكَ بِقَوْلِهِ جَلَّ ذِكْرُهُ:
“And among men is he who sells himself to seek the pleasure of Allah.”	”وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَنْ يَشْرِي نَفْسَهُ ٱبْتِغَاءَ مَرْضَاةِ ٱللَّهِ.“
Then, your ordeal on the Battle of Siffin,	ثُمَّ مِحْنَتُكَ يَوْمَ صِفِّينَ
when books of the Qur'an were raised (on spearheads) out of trickery and deception,	وَقَدْ رُفِعَتِ ٱلْمَصَاحِفُ حِيلَةً وَمَكْراً
causing doubt to be aroused,	فَأْعَرَضَ ٱلشَّكُّ
the truth to be neglected,	وَعُزِفَ ٱلْحَقُّ
and conjecture to be followed,	وَٱتُّبِعَ ٱلظَّنُّ
this ordeal was similar to the ordeal of (Prophet) Aaron when (Prophet) Moses appointed him as the leader of his people, but they left him alone,	أَشْبَهَتْ مِحْنَةَ هَارُونَ إِذْ أَمَّرَهُ مُوسَىٰ عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ فَتَفَرَّقُواْ عَنْهُ
while (Prophet) Aaron was calling at them, saying:	وَهَارُونُ يُنَادِي بِهِمْ وَيَقُولُ:
"O my people! You are only tried by it, and surely your Lord is the Beneficent Allah."	يَا قَوْمِ إِنَّمَا فُتِنْتُمْ بِهِ وَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ ٱلرَّحْمٰنُ
"Therefore, follow me and obey my order."	فَٱتَّبِعُونِي وَأَطِيعُوٱ أَمْرِي.
They said, ‘We will by no means cease to keep to its worship until Moses returns to us.’	قَالُوٱْ: لَنْ نَبْرَحَ عَلَيْهِ عَاكِفِينَ حَتَّىٰ يَرْجِعَ إِلَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ.
Similarly, when the books of the Qur'an were raised (on spearheads), you said:	وَكَذٰلِكَ أَنْتَ لَمَّا رُفِعَتِ ٱلْمَصَاحِفُ قُلْتَ:
"O my people, you are only tried by this and you have been surely cheated."	يَا قَوْمِ إِنَّمَا فُتِنْتُمْ بِهَا وَخُدِعْتُمْ
Nevertheless, they disobeyed you and did the opposite.	فَعَصَوْكَ وَخَالَفُوٱ عَلَيْكَ
And when they demanded with nominating two arbitrators (one from each party),	وَٱسْتَدْعَوْا نَصْبَ ٱلْحَكَمَيْنِ
you rejected and declared your disavowal of this act before Allah, and then asked them to do whatever they wanted.	فَأَبَيْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَتَبَرَّأْتَ إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ مِنْ فِعْلِهِمْ وَفَوَّضْتَهُ إِلَيْهِمْ
Thus, when the truth manifested itself	فَلَمَّا أَسْفَرَ ٱلْحَقُّ
the wrong was proven as futile,	وَسَفِهَ ٱلْمُنْكَرُ
and they confessed of their flaw and deviation from the right thing,	وَٱعْتَرَفُوٱ بِٱلزَّلَلِ وَٱلْجَوْرِ عَنِ ٱلْقَصْدِ
they also mutinied after that	ٱخْتَلَفُوا مِنْ بَعْدِهِ
and obliged you to commit to the nonsensical result of the arbitration that you had rejected and they had accepted,	وَأَلْزَمُوكَ عَلَىٰ سَفَهِ ٱلتَّحْكِيمِ ٱلَّذِي أَبَيْتَهُ وَأَحَبُّوهُ
and you had forbidden it, and they then confessed of the sin that they had committed.	وَحَظَرْتَهُ وَأَبَاحُوٱ ذَنْبَهُمُ ٱلَّذِي ٱقْتَرَفُوهُ
While you were following the course of sagacity and true guidance,	وَأَنْتَ عَلَىٰ نَهْجِ بَصِيرَةٍ وَهُدىٰ
they were following the courses of deviation and blindness.	وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ سُنَنِ ضَلالَةٍ وَعَمىٰ
Nonetheless, they insisted on hypocrisy	فَمَا زَالُوٱ عَلَىٰ ٱلنِّفَاقِ مُصِرِّينَ
and involved themselves in seduction	وَفِي ٱلْغَيِّ مُتَرَدِّدِينَ
until Allah made them taste the evil result of their conduct.	حَتَّىٰ أَذَاقَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَبَالَ أَمْرِهِمْ
He thus deadened, through your sword, those who mutinied against you, causing them eternal misery and perdition,	فَأَمَاتَ بِسَيْفِكَ مَنْ عَانَدَكَ فَشَقِيَ وَهَوَىٰ
and He gave life, through your acting as His argument, to those whom He decided as happy; therefore, they were guided (to the true choice).	وَأَحْيَا بِحُجَّتِكَ مَنْ سَعَدَ فَهُدِيَ
Allah’s blessings be upon you, coming and going,	صَلَوَاتُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكَ غَادِيَةً وَرَائِحَةً
and still and moving.	وَعَاكِفَةً وَذَاهِبَةً
Certainly, no one praising you can ever cover your actual characteristics	فَمَا يُحِيطُ ٱلْمَادِحُ وَصْفَكَ
and no one criticizing you can ever belittle your merits.	وَلاَ يُحْبِطُ ٱلطَّاعِنُ فَضْلَكَ
You are verily the best worshipper of all created beings,	أَنْتَ أَحْسَنُ ٱلْخَلْقِ عِبَادَةً
the most sincere in asceticism,	وَأَخْلَصُهُمْ زَهَادَةً
and the most enthusiastic defender of the religion.	وَأَذَبُّهُمْ عَنِ ٱلدِّينِ
You executed the laws of Allah with exceptional efforts	أَقَمْتَ حُدُودَ ٱللَّهِ بِجُهْدِكَ
and damaged the armies of the apostates with your sword.	وَفَلَلْتَ عَسَاكِرَ ٱلْمَارِقِينَ بِسَيْفِكَ
You can extinguish the flames of battles with your finger,	تُخْمِدُ لَهَبَ ٱلْحُرُوبِ بِبَنَانِكَ
tear out the curtains of seditions with your eloquent language,	وَتَهْتِكُ سُتُورَ ٱلشُّبَهِ بِبَيَانِكَ
and distinguish the confusing wrong from the plain right.	وَتَكْشِفُ لَبْسَ ٱلْبَاطِلِ عَنْ صَرِيحِ ٱلْحَقِّ
You are never influenced by any censure as long as you work for the sake of Allah.	لاَ تَأْخُذُكَ فِي ٱللَّهِ لَوْمَةُ لاَئِمٍ
The praising of Allah the All-exalted to you suffices	وَفِي مَدْحِ ٱللَّهِ تَعَالَىٰ لَكَ غِنَىٰ
from the praising of any other one and from the approval of the depicters.	عَنْ مَدْحِ ٱلْمَادِحِينَ وَتَقْرِيظِ ٱلْوَاصِفِينَ
Almighty Allah says:	قَالَ ٱللَّهُ تَعَالَىٰ:
“Of the believers are men who are true to the covenant which they made with Allah.	”مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوٱ مَا عَاهَدُوٱ ٱللَّهَ عَلَيْهِ
So, of them is he who accomplished his vow, of them is he who yet waits, and they have not changed in the least.”	فَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ قَضَىٰ نَحْبَهُ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَنْتَظِرُ وَمَا بَدَّلُوٱ تَبْدِيلًا.“
After you felt that you had killed the preachers, the wrongdoers, and the apostates,	وَلَمَّا رَأَيْتَ أَنْ قَتَلْتَ ٱلنَّاكِثِينَ وَٱلْقَاسِطِينَ وَٱلْمَارِقِينَ
the predictions of Allah’s Messenger—peace be upon him and his Household—came true,	وَصَدَقَكَ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَعْدَهُ
and you had fulfilled your promise to him, you then said:	فَأَوْفَيْتَ بِعَهْدِهِ قُلْتَ:
“Has time not come yet so that this (beard) shall be dyed with the blood of this (head)?	أَمَا آنَ أَنْ تُخْضَبَ هٰذِهِ مِنْ هٰذِهِ؟
When will the most unfortunate of them be sent (to slay me)?”	أَمْ مَتَىٰ يُبْعَثُ أَشْقَاهَا؟
You were always confident that you were proceeding on clear proof from your Lord,	وَاثِقًا بِأَنَّكَ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّكَ
you were acting with sure knowledge of what you do,	وَبَصِيرَةٍ مِنْ أَمْرِكَ
you were on your way to Allah,	قَادِمٌ عَلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ
and you were rejoicing in the bargain that you had made with Him;	مُسْتَبْشِرٌ بِبَيْعِكَ ٱلَّذِي بَايَعْتَهُ بِهِ
and that is the supreme triumph.	وَذٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ
O Allah, curse the murderers of your Prophets and the murderers of Your Prophets’ successors	اَللَّهُمَّ ٱلْعَنْ قَتَلَةَ أَنْبِيَائِكَ وَأَوْصِيَاءِ أَنْبِيَائِكَ
with the variant curses (that You have prepared for them),	بِجَمِيعِ لَعَنَاتِكَ
and make those slayers to taste the heat of Your fire.	وَأَصْلِهِمْ حَرَّ نَارِكَ
And also curse those who usurped the right of Your friend,	وَٱلْعَنْ مَنْ غَصَبَ وَلِيَّكَ حَقَّهُ
those who denied their allegiance to him,	وَأَنْكَرَ عَهْدَهُ
and those who rejected him after they had witnessed and declared their loyalty to him	وَجَحَدَهُ بَعْدَ ٱلْيَقِينِ وَٱلإِقْرَارِ بِٱلْوِلاَيَةِ لَهُ
on the day when you completed your religion through him.	يَوْمَ أَكْمَلْتَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ
O Allah, curse those who slew the Commander of the Faithful,	اَللَّهُمَّ ٱلْعَنْ قَتَلَةَ أَمِيرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
curse those who wronged him, and curse their adherents and supporters.	وَمَنْ ظَلَمَهُ وَأَشْيَاعَهُمْ وَأَنْصَارَهُمْ
O Allah, curse those who wronged and slew al-Husayn,	اَللَّهُمَّ ٱلْعَنْ ظَالِمِي ٱلْحُسَيْنِ وَقَاتِلِيهِ
and curse those who adhered to his enemies and those who supported them,	وَٱلْمُتَابِعِينَ عَدُوَّهُ وَنَاصِرِيهِ
and curse those who were pleased by the murder of killing al-Husayn and those who disappointed him, with violent cursing.	وَٱلرَّاضِينَ بِقَتْلِهِ وَخَاذِلِيهِ لَعْناً وَبِيلاً
O Allah, curse the first one to invent the wronging against the Household of Muhammad	اَللَّهُمَّ ٱلْعَنْ أَوَّلَ ظَالِمٍ ظَلَمَ آلَ مُحَمَّدٍ
and curse those who deprived them of their rights.	وَمَانِعِيهِمْ حُقُوقَهُمْ
O Allah, pour violent curses upon the first one who wronged and usurped the rights of the Household of Muhammad,	اَللَّهُمَّ خُصَّ أَوَّلَ ظَالِمٍ وَغَاصِبٍ لآِلِ مُحَمَّدٍ بِٱللَّعْنِ
and curse all those who followed those wrongdoers up to the Resurrection Day.	وَكُلَّ مُسْتَنٍّ بِمَا سَنَّ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَامَةِ
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad, the seal of the Prophets,	اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ خَاتَمِ ٱلنَّبِيِّينَ
and upon `Ali, the chief of the Prophets’ successors, and upon his immaculate Household,	وَعَلَىٰ عَلِيٍّ سَيِّدِ ٱلْوَصِيِّينَ وَآلِهِ ٱلطَّاهِرِينَ
(please do) make us adhere to them firmly,	وَٱجْعَلْنَا بِهِمْ مُتَمَسِّكِينَ
and include us with those who shall be winners and secured because they abode by their leadership;	وَبِوِلاَيَتِهِمْ مِنَ ٱلْفَائِزِينَ ٱلآمِنِينَ
those upon whom there shall come no fear, nor shall they grieve.	ٱلَّذِينَ لاَ خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلاَ هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ
