Zayd b. Ruqād (Qarqa') al-Junnabī (al-Janibī) (Arabic: زَید بن رُقاد (ورقاء) الجُنَّبی (الجَنِبی)) was an archer in the army of 'Umar b. Sa'd in the Battle of Karbala. He contributed to the martyrdom of 'Abbas b. 'Ali (a) and Suwayd b. 'Amr b. Abi Muta'. According to some sources, he was a murderer of 'Abd Allah b. Muslim. In the Uprising of al-Mukhtar, he was finally shot by 'Abd Allah b. Kamil and his people with arrows, and his half-alive corpse was burned.
In the Event of Ashura
Zayd b. Ruqad was from the Junnab tribe. He is mentioned in some sources as Zayd b. Warqa' al-Hanafi, Zayd b. Warqa' al-Juhani, Zayd b. Ruqad al-Hini, Yazid b. Warqa', and Yazid b. Ruqad al-Juhani as well.
According to some sources, he killed 'Abd Allah b. Muslim as well.
After his uprising, al-Mukhtar al-Thaqafi commissioned 'Abd Allah b. Kamil to capture Zayd b. Ruqad. When he was surrounded, ibn Kamil ordered his people not to hit him with swords and spears; he ordered them to shoot him with arrows and stone him, instead. He was burned while he was still almost alive.
