Al-Nūr al-hādī ilā aṣḥāb al-Imām al-Hādī (a) (Arabic: النّورُ الهادي إلی أَصحابِ الإمامِ الهادي) is a book in Arabic written by 'Abd al-Husayn al-Shabistari (d. January 17, 2017) in which the companions of the Tenth Shiite Imam are introduced. The author provides brief introductions to 193 of the companions of, and transmitters of hadiths from, al-Imam al-Hadi (a) in an alphabetic order.
Author
'Abd al-Husayn al-Shabistari was born in 1312 sh/1933-4 in Najaf. In the Seminary of Najaf, he attended the lectures of scholars such as Ayatollah al-Khu'i and Muhyi l-Din al-Mamaqani. After moving to Qom, he attended the lectures of Ayatollah Gulpayigani and Ayatollah Wahid Khurasani. Shabistari wrote over ten books, the most important of which include Irshad al-adhhan ila a'lam al-Qur'an, al-Fa'iq fi ashab al-Imam al-Sadiq (a), Subul al-rashad ila ashab al-Imam al-Jawad (a), and a number of volumes under al-Tabyin fi ashab al-Imam Amir al-Mu'minin (a). He died on January 17, 2017.[1]
Motivation for Writing
Since the author did not find an independent Shiite or Sunni book devoted to companions of the Imam, he wrote the book to introduce his companions.[2]
Content
The book involves short biographies of the companions of al-Imam al-Hadi (a) in an alphabetic order. Each biography contains the person's name, title, teknonym, and information about him in different sources. The book opens with a short biography of al-Imam al-Hadi (a).[3]
Publication
The book was first published in 1380 sh/2001-2 by the Library of the History of Islam and Iran in Qom.[4]
