Hamrazmān-i Ḥusayn (a) (Persian: همرزمان حسین; Companions of Husayn) is a compilation of transcripts from ten lectures delivered by Sayyid ʿAlī Khāminiʾī in Muharram 1393 AH (1973). This work explores themes such as the Theory of a 250-Year-Old Human, the concept of Jihad, the political struggles evident in the Sira of the Shi'a Imams, and the analysis of historical conspiracies designed to distort their revolutionary image.

The book was published in 1396 Sh/2017-18.

Significance and Status

Hamrazman-i Husayn comprises a series of lectures delivered in Muharram 1393 AH (coinciding with 1351 Sh/1973), a period marked by the intense political and religious climate preceding the Islamic Revolution of Iran (1979). The speaker, Sayyid ʿAlī Khāminiʾī, was a prominent figure in the opposition to the Pahlavi regime at the time. Delivered at the Ansar al-Husayn delegation in Tehran, these discourses addressed the necessity of correctly understanding the Imams, identifying hostile plots intended to misrepresent their militant stance, and elucidating the true meaning of Jihad.[1] In this work, the author elaborates on the Theory of a 250-Year-Old Human, characterizing the Imams from Imam al-Sajjad (a) to Imam al-Hasan al-Askari (a) as "companions of Imam al-Husayn (a)" in a unified mission.[2] A key distinction between this volume and Insan-i 250 Sala (A 250-Year-Old Human) is the former's structural coherence and its inclusion of more extensive discussions on ethical and historical matters.[3]

During compilation, editors prioritized preserving the author's original oratory tone with minimal alteration to facilitate direct reader engagement.[4] The book has been selected by the Ministry of Education of Iran as a resource for Islamic studies in the teacher recruitment examination.[5]

Publication

The Institute for Research and Culture of the Islamic Revolution (Office for the Preservation and Publication of the Works of Grand Ayatollah Khamenei) compiled and edited the work from audio recordings of Sayyid ʿAlī Khāminiʾī's lectures, publishing it in 1396 Sh/2017-18. Due to the unavailability of audio files for the ninth and tenth speeches, the text for these chapters was reconstructed using earlier session transcripts.[8]
