Ḥubb al-Ḥusayn Yajmaʿunā (Arabic: حب الحسین یجمعنا; meaning: The love of al-Husayn (a) gathers us) is a slogan referring to the global unity of Shi'as and lovers of Imam al-Husayn (a) in the Procession of Arba'in.[1] This slogan is common in Karbala during Arba'in, where millions of Pilgrims practice it by setting aside differences and emphasizing religious commonalities.[2] The goal of this slogan is stated to be the strengthening of bonds of faith and countering divisive propaganda centering on Imam al-Husayn (a).[3]

Nasir Makarim Shirazi, a Shi'a Marja', introduces this slogan as derived from Quranic verses and hadiths,[4] including al-Mawadda Verse[5] and hadiths narrated regarding the affection for the Ahl al-Bayt (a).[6] Ibn Qulawayh al-Qummi, a Shi'a hadith scholar of the 4th/10th century, has narrated a hadith from Prophet Muhammad (s) stating: "حُسَینٌ مِنِّی وَ أَنَا مِنْ حُسَینٍ أَحَبَ اللَّهُ مَنْ أَحَبَ حُسَیناً" (Husayn is from me and I am from Husayn. God loves the one who loves Husayn).[7] According to Sayyid Ali Husayni Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Husayni unity and love for Imam al-Husayn (a) have caused the formation of the Arba'in gathering.[8]

The slogan "Hubb al-Husayn Yajma'una" has been used in the poems of poets and by reciters of eulogies (Maddahi).[9] A book with this title has also been published, which focuses on the art of photography and visual narration.[10] According to the author of the book Hubb al-Husayn Yajma'una, this slogan is not merely spoken; rather, it strengthens the shared feeling of pilgrims and their bond during the Procession of Arba'in.[11]

In 2019, this slogan was raised in the media and Arba'in ceremonies, and subsequently spread among Arba'in pilgrims and cultural activists in the Islamic world.[12] The hashtag "#Hubb-al-Husayn-Yajma'una" was also used on social networks and on some flags in the Arba'in walk with this theme.
