Template:Infobox Ceremony The Anniversary of the Demise of Imam Khomeini is one of the commemorative ceremonies for Imam Khomeini held every year on June 4 at the Holy Shrine of Imam Khomeini in Tehran.[1] People, officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and international figures from various countries attend this ceremony.[2]

The responsibility for organizing this ceremony since 1369 Sh has been held by the "Committee for the Commemoration of the Anniversary of the Demise of Imam."[3] The number of Iranian participants in some years has been estimated at 2 million,[4] and foreign guests at more than 350 people from 50 countries.[5]

Ayatollah Khamene'i, the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has been the main speaker of this ceremony since 1369 Sh (1990).[6] The themes of his speeches include the explanation of the thoughts and the Will of Imam Khomeini, issues of the Muslim World, and the prevention of the distortion of Imam Khomeini's ideas.[7]

Other programs of this ceremony include the speech by the custodian of the Shrine of Imam Khomeini before the remarks of the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the establishment of service Mawkibs for participants. This ceremony is covered by Iranian and non-Iranian media.[8]

On June 4, commemorations for Imam Khomeini are held in various cities of Iran[9] and also in some other countries.[10]
