Hadith "Ṣūmū taṣiḥḥū" (Arabic: صوموا تصحوا; lit. 'Fast and you will be healthy') is a well-known narration attributed to the Prophet of Islam (s) concerning the impact of fasting on health. This tradition is recorded in various Shi'a sources, including Da'a'im al-Islam[1] by the 4th/10th-century Isma'ili jurist al-Qadi al-Nu'man; al-Da'awat[2] by Quṭb al-Dīn al-Rāwandī, a renowned Shi'a Muhaddith and jurist of the 6th/12th century; and 'Awali al-la'ali[3] by Ibn Abi Jumhur al-Ahsa'i, a jurist and theologian (d. 901/1496). It is also cited in select Sunni compilations.[4]
The hadith is narrated on the authority of Imam 'Ali (a), Abd Allah b. Abbas, and Abu Hurayra.[5]
While some Sunni scholars have classified the chain of transmission for "Ṣūmū taṣiḥḥū" as weak (ḍaʿīf),[6] Abd al-Aziz b. Baz, the late Saudi Grand Mufti, affirmed its validity as a hadith in a formal legal opinion (fatwa).[7] Certain physicians regard this narration as one of the scientific miracles of the Prophet (s), arguing that its content is substantiated by findings in modern medicine.[8]

Several works have been authored under the title of this narration, including the jurisprudential treatise Ṣūmū taṣiḥḥū[9] and various medical articles such as "Ṣūmū taṣiḥḥū"[10] and "Min rawāʾiʿ al-iʿjāz fī l-ṭibb al-Nabawī: Ṣūmū taṣiḥḥū".[11]
