He received permission to narrate hadith from Agha Buzurg Tihrani. Milani has authored over one hundred books on theology, jurisprudence, and principles of jurisprudence, many of which have been translated into various languages. The majority of Milani's works focus on the subject of Imamate.
Status and Importance
Sayyid Ali Asghar Husayni Milani, known as Sayyid Ali Milani,[1] is a Shi'a jurist and theologian.[2] He is a professor of Dars al-Kharij (advanced seminary studies) at the Hawza of Qom[3] and the founder and head of the Imamate Cultural Foundation and several other research and cultural centers.[4] He has trained many students[5] and is a prolific author with numerous works in various fields such as Imamah, theology, history, Quranic Exegesis, jurisprudence, principles of jurisprudence, and Hadith studies.[6] He was one of the recipients of the "Wilayat" Medal from the Congress on Re-reading the Personality Dimensions of Amir al-Mu'minin Imam Ali (a) in the year 2019.[7]

Scientific Biography
Milani was born in 1948 in Najaf.[8] He is the grandson of Sayyid Muhammad Hadi Milani, a Shi'a Marja' in the 20th century,[9] and his lineage traces back to Imam al-Sajjad (a).[10] He began his seminary education in the Karbala Seminary and later moved to the Najaf Seminary.[11] In Najaf, he attended the classes of Sayyid Zayn al-'Abidin Kashani, Sayyid Hasan Tabataba'i Qumi, Muhammad Ali Ardabili, Ali Muhammad Burujirdi, SayyidAbu al-Qasim al-Khoei, and his father, Sayyid Nur al-Din Milani.[12]
In 1971, upon his grandfather's invitation, he migrated to Mashhad and engaged in advanced studies at the Mashhad Seminary.[13] In 1974, he moved to Qom and attended the lectures of SSayyid Muhammad Rida Gulpayigani, Husayn Wahid Khurasani, Sayyid Muhammad Husayni Ruhani, Kazim Tabrizi, and Murtada Ha'iri Yazdi.[14] Ayatollah Gulpayigani in his commendatory note on one of Milani's books (al-Qada' wa al-Shahadat) which was a written record of his lectures, praised Milani and introduced him as a scholar who held authorization to transmit narrations from great figures such as Agha Buzurg Tihrani.[15]
Activities
Milani has established numerous cultural and research centers in Qom and Najaf, most of which are active in the field of Imamate.[16]
- Imamate Cultural Foundation: It has several departments: a) Education Department (Specialized Center for Imamate) for holding Imamate courses for seminary students, training researchers in the field of Imamate, and compiling textbooks on this subject; b) Research Department; c) Cultural-Propagation Affairs Department, whose activities include holding meetings and festivals.[17]
- Al-Risala Center: Established with the aim of printing scientific pamphlets to enlighten Iraqi youth after the fall of Saddam Hussein.[18]
- Center for Doctrinal Research (Markaz al-Abhath al-Aqa'idiyya): Established under the supervision of Sayyid Ali Sistani to answer doubts against Islamic teachings in Arabic.[19]
- Islamic Truths Center (Markaz Haqa'iq Islami): Launched with the aim of defending the Imami sect and the issue of Imamate and the immediate caliphate of Imam Ali (a), as well as preserving and publishing the works of Sayyid Ali Milani and supporting his official website.[20]
- The Grand World Imamate Center for Doctrinal Studies (Markaz al-Imama al-Kubra al-'Alami): Considered the branch of the Imamate Cultural Foundation in Najaf.[21]
Opinion on Proximity of Schools
Emphasizing the necessity of proximity between schools of thought, Sayyid Ali Milani has criticized the performance of some scientific centers. According to him, denying the truths of the Shi'a school, promoting the words of deviant sects without criticism, and denying the miracles of the Prophet (s) and the Ahl al-Bayt (a) is not compatible with a proximity-oriented approach. He considers these behaviors contrary to the method of scholars such as Sayyid Sharaf al-Din, Kashif al-Ghita, Ayatollah Burujirdi, Allamah Askari, and Sayyid Ali Khamenei. He believes that these institutions have specific regulations that are not being observed.[22]
Works

Milani has authored over one hundred books in Persian and Arabic on theological, jurisprudential, and principal subjects, many of which have been translated into various languages including Urdu, English, Azeri, Istanbul Turkish, Chinese, French, and others.[23] Most of his works are on theological topics and the subject of Imamah.[24] Among these books are:
- Nafahat al-Azhar fi Khulasat Aqabat al-Anwar (20 volumes)
- Tahqiq al-Usul (Transcriptions of Ayatollah Wahid Khurasani's principles discussions in 5 volumes)
- Jawahir al-Kalam fi Ma'rifat al-Imam
- Istikhraj al-Maram min Istiqsa' al-Ifham (3 volumes)
- Adillat Imamat Amir al-Mu'minin (a) min al-Kitab al-Mubin
- Al-Qada' wa al-Shahadat and Kitab al-Bay' (Transcriptions of Ayatollah Gulpayigani's lectures).[25]
