Al-Istishfāʾ bi-l-turba al-sharīfa al-Ḥusaynīyya (Arabic: اَلْاِسْتِشْفاء بالتُّرْبَةِ الشّریفَةِ الْحُسَیْنیّة, literally: seeking the healing in Imam al-Husayn's soil) is a book in Arabic written by Abu l-Ma'ali al-Kalbasi (d. 1315/1897), an Imami jurist. The author discusses the issue of seeking healing in the soil of Imam al-Husayn's grave by considering over hundred hadiths.
The Author
Mirza Abu l-Ma'ali al-Kalbasi (b. 1247/1832 , d. 1315/1897) was an Imami jurist. He wrote over eighty works concerning jurisprudence, principles of jurisprudence, rijal, literature, theology, exegesis, hadith and commentaries on supplications by the Infallibles.
The Structure of the Book
The book seeks to establish that the soil of Imam al-Husayn's grave has a healing power, and indeed, it is recommended to use the soil for healing purposes. He cites hadiths from the Infallibles and remarks by jurists in his discussion of issues of the soil. The author allegedly cited over hundred hadiths in this regard.
