Ḥusayn Maẓāhirī (Persian: حسین مظاهری, b. 1352/1933) is a Shiite marja' and a teacher of advanced courses of jurisprudence and principles of jurisprudence in the seminary of Isfahan. Ayatollah Mazahiri studied seminary courses in Qom and Isfahan.

He was a student of Imam Khomeini, Ayatollah Burujirdi, and 'Allama Tabataba'i. In 1995, at the request of Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, he migrated from Qom to Isfahan. The ethical book Jihad ba nafs (self-fight), is one of his works.

Biography

Husayn Mazahiri was born in Tiran near Isfahan in 1352/1933. His father, Hasan Mazahiri, was a clergy. Mazahiri entered the seminary of Isfahan in 1947. He studied preliminaries and parts of intermediary seminary courses in Isfahan, and in 1951, he migrated to Qom. In the Islamic seminary of Qom, he attended the lectures of Imam Khomeini, Ayatollah Burujirdi, Sayyid Muhammad Muhaqqiq Damad, Sayyid Muhammad Husayn Tabataba'i, Shaykh 'Abd al-Jawad Sidihi, Sayyid Shahab al-Din Mar'ashi Najafi, and Shaykh Murtada Ha'iri.

In 1995, Mazahiri migrated from Qom to Isfahan where he stayed, at the command of Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran. His activities in Isfahan include the establishment of the center for management of the seminary of Isfahan, a center for expertise educations of the seminary of Isfahan, the center for computer researches of the seminary of Isfahan, as well as a center for affairs of mosques in Isfahan Province.

Teaching

Before the victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, Ayatollah Mazahiri was engaged in compiling scholarly and educational programs of Dar Rah-i Haqq Inistitute, together with Ayatollah Misbah Yazdi and Ayatollah Kharrazi. After the victory of the revolution, he revived some seminary schools in Isfahan. Moreover, he taught ethics for seminary students in Faydiyya Seminary School in Qom. He also taught jurisprudence, principles of jurisprudence, philosophy, and economics. In 1977, he started teaching advanced courses of jurisprudence and principles of jurisprudence.

Works

The majority of Ayatollah Mazahiri's writings concerned Islamic jurisprudence and ethics, but they also concern other Islamic issues such as economics and family. His writings include Jihad ba nafs (self-fight) concerning ethical issues within four volumes and his Tawdih al-masa'il.

A collection of Ayatollah Mazahiri's works, including his writings and transcripts of his lectures, were published as a software program.
