Erbil (or Irbīl (Arabic:أربيل) is a northern city of Iraq which is located near Mosul and Kurdistan. It is also the capital city of Erbil Governance. 'Ali b. 'Isa al-Irbili, hadith scholar, historian and poet, al-Shaykh As'ad al-Hilli al-Irbil, Shi'ite scholar, as well as al-Shaykh 'Izz al-l-Din Darir al-Irbili, a philosopher and poet, all were born in Erbil in the 7th/13th century.
