Nawqān (Persian: نوقان) was a town at Khorasan and the tomb of 'Ali b. Musa al-Rida (a) is there.[1] Al-Ya'qubi wrote in his al-Buldan: "The big city of Tus is called Nawqan."[2] Al-Qazwini says: "Tus has two districts: Tabaran and Nawqan."[3] Imam al-Rida (a) passed away in this village at the beginning of 203/818-9.[4]
