Umm Isḥāq bt. Ṭalḥa b. ʿUbayd Allāh (Arabic:أم إسحاق بنت طَلحَة بن عُبَيد الله) was one of the wives of Imam al-Hasan (a). After the martyrdom of Imam al-Hasan (a), she married Imam al-Husayn (a). Umm Ishaq was the mother of Talha son of Imam al-Hasan (a) and Fatima, a daughter of Imam al-Husayn (a). After the martyrdom of Imam al-Husayn (a), she married 'Abd Allah b. Muhammad b. 'Abd al-Rahman b. Abi Bakr. Some sources have mentioned Tamam b. al-'Abbas b. 'Abd al-Muttalib as her husband after the martyrdom of Imam al-Husayn (a). Historical reports have described her beautiful but bad-tempered.
Life
Umm Ishaq, daughter of Talha b. 'Ubayd Allah was one of the wives of Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba (a). After his martyrdom, she married Imam al-Husayn (a).[1] After the martyrdom of Imam al-Husayn (a), she married 'Abd Allah b. Muhammad b. 'Abd al-Rahman b. Abi Bakr and it is said that before this marriage, she had married Tamam b. al-'Abbas b. 'Abd al-Muttalib.[2]
Abu l-Faraj Isfhani wrote that "Umm Ishaq was among the most beautiful women of Quraysh and the most bad-tempered ones among them."[3]
Children
Al-Shaykh al-Mufid mentioned three children she had from Imam al-Hasan (a), al-Husayn (who was titled as al-Athram), Talha, and Fatima.[4] He also mentioned that she had one daughter from Imam al-Husayn (a) who was Fatima.[5]
