Sharif Razi lost his father in 1934-5 and since then, began to work for living beside his education due to the difficulties of life and deprivations he and his family suffered after the death of his father. At the age of 17, he immigrated to Qom following the encouragement of Shaykh Muhammad Taqi Bafqi who was at that time living in exile in Rey.
