In the first part of the book, Ibn Mardawayh introduced the virtues of Imam Ali (a) in twenty-two chapters. He mentioned Imam Ali's (a) teknonyms and titles, his conversion to Islam, his faith, his knowledge, his piety, his courage and the like, citing hadiths such as Hadith al-Tayr, Hadith Radd al-Shams, and Hadith Sadd al-Abwab. He also talked about the virtues of Lady Fatima al-Zahra (a), Imam al-Hasan (a), Imam al-Husayn (a), and other people from Ahl al-Bayt (a).[3]

The second part of the book, under "what was revealed in the Qur'an regarding Ali", involves verses of different suras of the Qur'an regarding the virtues of Imam Ali (a).[4]
