Cause of Martyrdom Battle of Siffin

Saʿd (Saʿīd) b. Ḥuḍayfa b. Yamān (Arabic: سعد بن حذيفة بن یمان, martyred 37/657) was among the companions of Imam Ali (a) who was martyred in the battle of Siffin. The father of Sa'd, Hudhayfa was among the companions of the Prophet (s) and Imam Ali (a). According to their father's will, Sa'd and his brother, Safwan accompanied Imam Ali (a) in the battle of Siffin and were martyred in that battle. But, according to al-Tabari, he was alive upon the Tawwabun uprising and in a letter, Sulayman b. Surad al-Khuza'i asked his assistance and Sa'd expressed his readiness to help. In some sources, his name is mentioned as "Sa'id" and it is said that he transmitted hadiths from Sa'd b. Mas'ud.
