Bishr b. al-Barāʾ (Arabic: بِشر بن بَراء), (d. 8/ 629-30) was one of the Prophet (s)'s Sahaba, from the kinsman of Banu Salama of the Khazraj tribe. His father was Bara' b. Ma'rur and his mother was Khalisa bt. Qays. Bishr b. al-Bara', together with his father, converted to Islam in the second Pledge of 'Aqaba, and the Prophet (s) made a fraternity pact between him and Waqid b. 'And Allah al-Tamimi.
Bishr attended most Ghazwas, such as Badr, Uhud and Khandaq. Although the Banu Salama kinsman was headed by Jadd b. Qays, since people of Banu Salama were not satisfied with Jadd, the Prophet (s) called Bishr the head of his people. It is said that in the battle of Khaybar in 7/628, Bishr and some other Sahaba ate the poisoned meat that a Jewish woman had brought for the Prophet (s). According to some reports, he died of the poison after one year.
