Text and Translation
In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful. |
O God, inspire us to obey You, | اَللَّهُمَّ أَلْهِمْنا طاعَتَكَ، |
turn us aside from disobeying You, | وَجَنّـِبْنا مَعْصِيَتَكَ، |
make it easy for us to reach the seeking of Your good pleasure which we wish, | وَيَسّـِرْ لَنا بُلُوغَ ما نَتَمَنَّىٰ مِنِ ابْتِغاءِ رِضْوانِكَ، |
set us down in the midst of Your Gardens, | وَأَحْلِلْنا بُحْبُوحَةَ جِنانِكَ، |
dispel from our insights the clouds of misgiving, | وَاقْشَعْ عَنْ بَصائِرِنا سَحابَ الإِرْتِيابِ، |
uncover from our hearts the wrappings of doubt and the veil, | وَاكْشِفْ عَنْ قُلُوبِنا أَغْشِيَةَ الْمِرْيَةِ وَالْحِجابِ، |
make falsehood vanish from our innermost minds, | وَأَزْهِقِ الْباطِلَ عَنْ ضَمائِرِنا، |
and fix the truth in our secret thoughts, | وَأَثْبِتِ الْحَقَّ فِي سَرائِرِنا، |
for doubts and opinions fertilise temptations | فَإنَّ الشُّكُوكَ وَالظُّنُونَ لَواقِحُ الْفِتَنِ، |
and pollute the purity of gifts and kindnesses!
O God, carry us in the ships of Your deliverance, |
give us to enjoy the pleasure of whispered prayer to You, | وَمَتّـِعْنا بِلَذِيْذِ مُناجاتِكَ، |
make us drink at the pools of Your love, | وَأَوْرِدْنا حِياضَ حُبّـِكَ، |
let us taste the sweetness of Your affection and nearness, | وَأَذِقْنا حَلاوَةَ وُدّ ِكَ وَقُرْبِكَ، |
allow us to struggle in You, | وَاجْعَلْ جِهادَنا فِيكَ، |
preoccupy us with obeying You, | وَهَمَّنا فِي طاعَتِكَ، |
and purify our intentions in devoting works to You, | وَأَخْلِصْ نِيَّاتِنا فِي مُعامَلَتِكَ، |
for we exist through You and belong to You, | فَإِنَّا بِكَ وَلَكَ، |
and we have no one to mediate with You but You!
My God, place me among the chosen, the good, | إِلـٰهِي اجْعَلْنِي مِنَ الْمُصْطَفَيْنَ الأَخْيارِ، |
Join me to the righteous, the pious, |
the first to reach generous gifts, | السَّابِقِينَ إلَىٰ الْمَكْرُماتِ، |
the swift to come upon good things, | الْمُسارِعِينَ إلَىٰ الْخَيْراتِ، |
the workers of the abiding acts of righteousness, | الْعامِلِينَ لِلْباقِياتِ الصَّالِحاتِ، |
the strivers after elevated degrees!
You are powerful over everything |
and disposed to respond!
By Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful! |
