Ibrāhīm b. Hāshim al-Qummī (Arabic:ابراهیم بن هاشم القمّی) was a Shi'a jurist and narrator who spread the hadith of Kufa school of narration in Qom. He is the father of 'Ali b. Ibrahim (whose exegesis is very famous).

Biography

Ibrahim b. Hashim Abu Ishaq al-Kufi al-Qummi was born in Kufa and later moved to Qom. He was the first narrator who spread the hadith of Kufa school of narration in Qom. He is the father of 'Ali b. Ibrahim (whose exegesis is very famous).[1]

Scholarly Status

He was a jurist, narrator and an eminent Shi'a.[2] He was one of Mashayikh al-Ijaza and narrated a lot of hadiths. Reliable and eminent Shi'a narrators have narrated and accepted his hadiths.

Although al-Kashshi counted him as a companion of Imam al-Rida (a) and a pupil of Yunus b. 'Abd al-Rahman, al-Najashi doubted this. Sayyid Abu l-Qasim al-Khoei believes that al-Najashi's doubt is reasonable; because he has no direct narration form Imam al-Rida (a) or Yunis b. 'Abd al-Rahman; but he adds that unavailability of a direct narration does not necessarily means that he did not see Imam al-Rida (a). He continues by saying that he was a companion to Imam al-Jawad (a), arguing that he has narrated several hadiths from him directly.[3]

According to al-Khoei's opinion there is no doubt about his reliability.[4] He adds that no other narrator have quoted this number of hadiths (6414) except him.
