ʿAbd Allāh b. Jundab al-Bajalī al-Kūfī (Arabic: عبدالله بن جُندَب البَجَلي الكوفي) was a companion, and a transmitter of hadiths of Imam al-Sadiq (a), Imam al-Kazim (a), and Imam al-Rida (a). He was also a deputy of Imam al-Kazim (a) and Imam al-Rida (a).

Introduction

Abd Allah b. Jundab al-Bajali al-Kufi was a companion and a transmitter of hadiths from Imam al-Sadiq (a), Imam al-Kazim (a), and Imam al-Rida (a).[1] He was a deputy of Imam al-Kazim (a) and Imam al-Rida (a).[2] 'Abd Allah b. Jundab was a worshiper and was highly appreciated by the two Imams (a).[3]

There is no mention of the years of his birth and death in sources.[4] However, he allegedly died in the period of the The Eighth Imam (a).[5]

Transmitter of Hadiths and Deputy of Imams

Abd Allah b. Jundab is deemed reliable by all Shiite scholars of rijal and was trusted by three Shiite Imams.[6] Some people appeal to a hadith by Imam al-Rida (a) to show that he was an instance of the Qur'an 22:34[7] [8] and one of the humble. According to Qur'anic exegeses, "mukhbitun" (مُخبِتین) refers to people who are humble towards God.[9] Moreover, al-Shaykh al-Tusi regards him as a "praised representative" of Imams.[10]

The majority of Shiite scholars of rijal refer to him as a transmitter of hadiths from, and a deputy of the two Imams. Some scholars reject al-Shaykh al-Tusi's claim that Abd Allah transmitted hadiths from the Sixth Imam (a).[11]

Works

Abd Allah b. Jundab transmitted thirty-five hadiths from Shiite Imams.
