Sayyid Riḍā Bahāʾ al-dīnī (Arabic: سید رضا بهاءالدینی) (b. 1326/1908 – d. 1418/1997), was a jurist and teacher of ethics and practical mysticism. He was a pupil of Shaykh 'Abd al-Karim Ha'iri Yazdi, Sayyid Muhammad Hujjat, Sayyid Muhammad Taqi Khwansari, and Ayatollah Sayyid Husayn Burujirdi. He was mostly occupied by discussions, private and public classes of moral teachings which lasted until the end of his life.
Birth
Sayyid Rida Baha' al-Dini was born in Qom on Safar 25, 1326/March 29, 1908.[1]
Lineage
His father, Sayyid Safi al-Din was a pious servant in the holy Shrine of Lady Fatima al-Ma'suma (a). He so much loved and recited the Qur'an and participated in the classes of Shaykh 'Abd al-Karim Ha'iri and Shaykh Abu l-Qasim Kabir Qummi.[2]
Education
Following his father's encouragement, he began studying Islamic studies in the Seminary of Qom and took classes of preliminary levels under Mirza Muhammad 'Ali Adib Tihrani, Mirza Muhammad Hamadani, Akhund Mulla 'Ali Hamadani (d. 1398/1977-8) and Sayyid Sadr al-Din al-Sadr (d. 1373/1953).
Teachers
He attended Kharij courses of jurisprudence and principles of jurisprudence of Shaykh 'Abd al-Karim Ha'iri and later benefitted classes of Sayyid Muhammad Hujjat Kuhkamari'i (d. 1372/1953), Sayyid Muhammad Taqi Khwansari (d. 1371/1952), and Sayyid Husayn Burujirdi (d. 1380/1961). Since then, he began teaching general lessons of Arabic literature, jurisprudence, and principles of jurisprudence and taught of jurisprudence and principles of jurisprudence in the Seminary of Qom for 20 years.[3]

He was teaching seminary lessons most of his life. Many people benefitted his classes.

Prestige in Ethics and Mysticism
He was mostly occupied with discussions and private and public moral teachings until the end of his life. He had never participated in any formal class of ethics and had learned most of his manner and conduct from his teachers, especially Shaykh Abu l-Qasim Kabir Qummi.[4]
He always strived for self-purification and giving spiritual instructions to his pupils.
Therefore, he was known as the teacher of ethics and mysticism. Some acts of wonder were attributed to him. In Shawwal 1417/February-March of 1997, a seminar with the name of"Hawza and moral purification" was held in Qom to pay homage to him.
"The great moral and spiritual status of that great man was so that his every word or point would glitter in the eyes of his lovers and opened a door to worlds of spirituality to them. His gathering was always the ascent of ready souls of young religious students who wanted to combine religious knowledge with the fragrance of religious mysticism. He was a teacher of ethics and the wayfarer towards God; his brilliant and revelatory words occupied the ready hearts in remembrance of God. He was the ultimate guide of self-sacrificing youths of frontiers in the holy defense and the candle of the gatherings of mobilized forces and many times illuminated front lines more with his presence."

Works
So far, none of his scattered notes about Nahj al-Balagha, commentaries on the Qur'an, or class scripts of his teachers' jurisprudence classes have been published.[5] Some of his moral classes and some of his interviews have been published in the two books of Suluk Ma'nawi (Spiritual Conduct) and Nardiban Asman (the Ladder to Sky), both in Persian language.
Demise
Ayatollah Baha' al-Dini passed away on Rabi' I 12, 1418/ July 18, 1997 and was buried in The Holy Shrine of Lady Fatima al-Ma'suma (a) in Qom.[6] Following his demise, Sayyid 'Ali Khamenei, the Leader of Islamic Republic of Iran delivered a message.
