Companion of | Imam 'Ali (a) |
ʿAdīyy b. al-Hārith (Arabic: عَدِیّ بن الحارِث) served as Imam Ali's (a) appointed agent in the Bahurasir region (also known as Veh-Ardashir or Behrasir), situated near Mada'in and the western bank of the Tigris River.
There is no precise information about the character and lineage of 'Adi b. Harith.[1] According to Nasr b. Muzahim, Imam Ali (a) appointed him as his governor in the Bahurasir region after the Battle of Jamal and his arrival in Kufa.[2] Bahurasir was a district near Baghdad, close to Madain, located west of the Tigris.[3] However, according to a hadith cited in Bihar al-Anwar, 'Adi b. Hatim is mentioned as Imam Ali's governor in this region.[4]
