ʿAlī b. Abī Rāfiʿ (Arabic: علي بن أبي رافع) was one of the Tabi'un and one of th special companions of Imam Ali (a). He is the son of Abu Rafi', a well-known companion of the prophet (s). He was Imam 'Ali's (a) scriber who participated in all his battles.
Ali b. Abi Rafi' studied fiqh under Imam Ali (a), and was one of the first Shi'a jurists. He was the first who wrote a fiqh book in Islam. This book was on wudu (ablution), salat (prayer), and some other jurisprudential chapters.[1] Al-Najashi refers to his book but does not mention any name for the book.[2]
