Text:Sura al-Layl

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.	بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّ‌حْمَـٰنِ الرَّ‌حِيمِ
By the night when it envelops, (1)	وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰ ﴿١﴾
by the day when it brightens, (2)	وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ ﴿٢﴾
by Him who created the male and the female: (3)	وَمَا خَلَقَ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنثَىٰ ﴿٣﴾
your endeavors are indeed unlike. (4)	إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّىٰ ﴿٤﴾
As for him who gives and is Godwary (5)	فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَىٰ وَاتَّقَىٰ ﴿٥﴾
and confirms the best promise, (6)	وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَىٰ ﴿٦﴾
We shall surely ease him into facility. (7)	فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ ﴿٧﴾
But as for him who is stingy and self-complacent, (8)	وَأَمَّا مَن بَخِلَ وَاسْتَغْنَىٰ ﴿٨﴾
and denies the best promise, (9)	وَكَذَّبَ بِالْحُسْنَىٰ ﴿٩﴾
We shall surely ease him into hardship. (10)	فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرَىٰ ﴿١٠﴾
His wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. (11)	وَمَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُ مَالُهُ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰ ﴿١١﴾
Indeed with Us rests guidance, (12)	إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْـهُدَىٰ ﴿١٢﴾
and indeed to Us belong the world and the Hereafter. (13)	وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلْآخِرَةَ وَالْأُولَىٰ ﴿١٣﴾
So I warn you of a blazing fire, (14)	فَأَنذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَظَّىٰ ﴿١٤﴾
which none shall enter except the most wretched (15)	لَا يَصْلَاهَا إِلَّا الْأَشْقَى ﴿١٥﴾
—he who denies and turns back. (16)	الَّذِي كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ﴿١٦﴾
The Godwary shall be spared it (17)	وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا الْأَتْقَى ﴿١٧﴾
—he who gives his wealth to purify himself (18)	الَّذِي يُؤْتِي مَالَهُ يَتَزَكَّىٰ ﴿١٨﴾
and does not expect any reward from anyone, (19)	وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُ مِن نِّعْمَةٍ تُجْزَىٰ ﴿١٩﴾
but seeks only the pleasure of his Lord, the Most Exalted, (20)	إِلَّا ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ الْأَعْلَىٰ ﴿٢٠﴾
and, surely, soon he will be well-pleased. (21)	وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضَىٰ ﴿٢١﴾
