In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful. |
When the sun is wound up, (1) | إِذَا الشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ ﴿١﴾ |
when the stars scatter, (2) | وَإِذَا النُّجُومُ انكَدَرَتْ ﴿٢﴾ |
when the mountains are set moving, (3) | وَإِذَا الْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ ﴿٣﴾ |
when the pregnant camels are neglected, (4) | وَإِذَا الْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ ﴿٤﴾ |
when the wild beasts are mustered, (5) | وَإِذَا الْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ ﴿٥﴾ |
when the seas are set afire, (6) | وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ ﴿٦﴾ |
when the souls are assorted, (7) | وَإِذَا النُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ ﴿٧﴾ |
when the girl buried-alive will be asked (8) | وَإِذَا الْمَوْءُودَةُ سُئِلَتْ ﴿٨﴾ |
for what sin she was killed.
When the records [of deeds] are unfolded, (10) |
when the sky is stripped off, (11) | وَإِذَا السَّمَاءُ كُشِطَتْ ﴿١١﴾ |
when hell is set ablaze, (12) | وَإِذَا الْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ ﴿١٢﴾ |
when paradise is brought near, (13) | وَإِذَا الْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ |
then a soul shall know what it has readied [for itself].
So I swear by the stars that return, (15) |
the planets that hide, (16) | لْجَوَارِ الْكُنَّسِ ﴿١٦﴾ |
by the night as it approaches, (17) | وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ ﴿١٧﴾ |
by the dawn as it breathes, (18) | وَالصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ ﴿١٨﴾ |
it is indeed the speech of a noble apostle, (19) | إِنَّهُ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ ﴿١٩﴾ |
powerful and eminent with the Lord of the Throne, (20) | ذِي قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِي الْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍ ﴿٢٠﴾ |
one who is heard and trustworthy as well.
Your companion is not crazy: (22) |
certainly he saw him on the manifest horizon, (23) | وَلَقَدْ رَآهُ بِالْأُفُقِ الْمُبِينِ ﴿٢٣﴾ |
and he is not miserly concerning the Unseen.
And it is not the speech of an outcast Satan. (25) |
So where are you going? (26) |
It is just a reminder for all the nations, (27) |
for those of you who wish to be steadfast; (28) | لِمَن شَاءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَسْتَقِيمَ ﴿٢٨﴾ |
but you do not wish unless it is wished by Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.
