ʿAmr b. ʿAbd Allāh al-Junduʿī (Arabic: عَمرو بن عبداللّه الجُنْدُعی) was among the martyrs of the event of Karbala. He was from Hamdan tribe[1] and joined the army of Imam al-Husayn (a) after Imam (a) entered Karbala, before the day of 'Ashura.[2]
There are two reports about the way he was martyred:
- Some said that 'Amr was martyred in the first attack of the army of 'Umar b. Sa'd to the companions of Imam al-Husayn (a).[3]
- Some others said that 'Amr fell unconscious due to many wounds he received and a strike at his head and his family took him out of the battlefield, and he passed away one year later.[4] In Ziyara of al-Shuhada, we read, "Peace and greetings be upon the wounded who passed away out of the battlefield."[5]
