| His Supplication in Calling down Blessings upon the Followers of, and Attesters to, the Messengers
|
(4) وَ كَانَ مِنْ دُعَائِهِ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ عَلَى أَتْبَاعِ الرُّسُلِ وَ مُصَدِّقِيهِمْ
|
| In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
|
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحيمِ
|
| 1- O God, as for the followers of the messengers
|
1. اللَّهُمَّ وَ أَتْبَاعُ الرُّسُلِ
|
| and those of the people of the earth who attested to them unseen
|
وَ مُصَدِّقُوهُمْ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ بِالْغَيْبِ
|
| (while the obstinate resisted them through crying lies) -
|
عِنْدَ مُعَارَضَةِ الْمُعَانِدِينَ لَهُمْ بِالتَّكْذِيبِ
|
| they yearned for the emissaries through the realities of faith,
|
وَ الِاشْتِيَاقِ إِلَى الْمُرْسَلِينَ بِحَقَائِقِ الْإِيمَانِ
|
| 2- in every era and time in which Thou didst send a messenger
|
2. فِي كُلِّ دَهْرٍ وَ زَمَانٍ أَرْسَلْتَ فِيهِ رَسُولًا
|
| and set up for the people a director
|
وَ أَقَمْتَ لِأَهْلِهِ دَلِيلًا
|
| from the period of Adam down to Muhammad (God bless him and his Household)
|
مِنْ لَدُنْ آدَمَ إِلَى مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ
|
| from among the imams of guidance
|
مِنْ أَئِمَّةِ الْهُدَى ،
|
| and the leaders of the godfearing
|
وَ قَادَةِ أَهْلِ التُّقَى ،
|
| (upon them all be peace) -
|
عَلَى جَمِيعِهِمُ السَّلَامُ ،
|
| remember them with forgiveness and good pleasure!
|
فَاذْكُرْهُمْ مِنْكَ بِمَغْفِرَةٍ وَ رِضْوَانٍ .
|
| 3- O God, and as for the Companions of Muhammad specifically,
|
3. اللَّهُمَّ وَ أَصْحَابُ مُحَمَّدٍ خَاصَّةً
|
| those who did well in companionship,
|
الَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا الصَّحَابَةَ
|
| who stood the good test in helping him,
|
وَ الَّذِينَ أَبْلَوُا الْبَلَاءَ الْحَسَنَ فِي نَصْرِهِ ،
|
| responded to him when he made them hear his messages' argument,
|
وَ اسْتَجَابُوا لَهُ حَيْثُ أَسْمَعَهُمْ حُجَّةَ رِسَالَاتِهِ .
|
| 4-separated from mates and children
|
4. وَ فَارَقُوا الْأَزْوَاجَ وَ الْأَوْلَادَ
|
| in manifesting his word,
|
فِي إِظْهَارِ كَلِمَتِهِ ،
|
| fought against fathers and sons in strengthening his prophecy,
|
وَ قَاتَلُوا الْآبَاءَ وَ الْأَبْنَاءَ فِي تَثْبِيتِ نُبُوَّتِهِ ،
|
| and through him gained victory;
|
وَ انْتَصَرُوا بِهِ .
|
| 5- those who were wrapped in affection for him,
|
5. وَ مَنْ كَانُوا مُنْطَوِينَ عَلَى مَحَبَّتِهِ
|
| hoping for a commerce that comes not to naught in love for him;
|
يَرْجُونَ تِجَارَةً لَنْ تَبُورَ فِي مَوَدَّتِهِ .
|
| 6- those who were left by their clans
|
6. وَ الَّذِينَ هَجَرَتْهُمْ الْعَشَائِرُ
|
| when they clung to his handhold
|
إِذْ تَعَلَّقُوا بِعُرْوَتِهِ ،
|
| and denied by their kinsfolk when they rested in the shadow of his kinship;
|
وَ انْتَفَتْ مِنْهُمُ الْقَرَابَاتُ إِذْ سَكَنُوا فِي ظِلِّ قَرَابَتِهِ .
|
| 7- forget not, O God, what they abandoned for Thee and in Thee,
|
7. فَلَا تَنْسَ لَهُمُ اللَّهُمَّ مَا تَرَكُوا لَكَ وَ فِيكَ ،
|
| and make them pleased with Thy good pleasure
|
وَ أَرْضِهِمْ مِنْ رِضْوَانِكَ ،
|
| for the sake of the creatures they drove to Thee
|
وَ بِمَا حَاشُوا الْخَلْقَ عَلَيْكَ ،
|
| while they were with Thy Messenger, summoners to Thee for Thee.
|
وَ كَانُوا مَعَ رَسُولِكَ دُعَاةً لَكَ إِلَيْكَ .
|
| 8- Show gratitude to them for leaving the abodes of their people for Thy sake
|
8. وَ اشْكُرْهُمْ عَلَى هَجْرِهِمْ فِيكَ دِيَارَ قَوْمِهِمْ ،
|
| and going out from a plentiful livelihood to a narrow one,
|
وَ خُرُوجِهِمْ مِنْ سَعَةِ الْمَعَاشِ إِلَى ضِيقِهِ ،
|
| and [show gratitude to] those of them who became objects of wrongdoing and whom Thou multiplied in exalting Thy religion.
|
وَ مَنْ كَثَّرْتَ فِي إِعْزَازِ دِينِكَ مِنْ مَظْلُومِهِمْ .
|
| 9- O God, and give to those who have done well in following the Companions,
|
9. اللَّهُمَّ وَ أَوْصِلْ إِلَى التَّابِعِينَ لَهُمْ بِإِحْسَانٍ ،
|
| who say, Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who went before us in faith,
|
الَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا وَ لِإِخْوَانِنَا الَّذِينَ سَبَقُونَا بِالْإِيمَانِ
|
| Thy best reward;
|
خَيْرَ جَزَائِكَ .
|
| 10- those who went straight to the Companions' road, sought out their course,
|
10. الَّذِينَ قَصَدُوا سَمْتَهُمْ ، وَ تَحَرَّوْا وِجْهَتَهُمْ ،
|
| and proceeded in their manner.
|
وَ مَضَوْا عَلَى شَاكِلَتِهِمْ .
|
| 11- No doubt concerning their sure insight diverted them
|
11. لَمْ يَثْنِهِمْ رَيْبٌ فِي بَصِيرَتِهِمْ ،
|
| and no uncertainty shook them from following in their tracks
|
وَ لَمْ يَخْتَلِجْهُمْ شَكٌّ فِي قَفْوِ آثَارِهِمْ ،
|
| and being led by the guidance of their light.
|
وَ الِائْتِمَامِ بِهِدَايَةِ مَنَارِهِمْ .
|
| 12- As their assistants and supporters,
|
12. مُكَانِفِينَ وَ مُوَازِرِينَ لَهُمْ ،
|
| they professed their religion,
|
يَدِينُونَ بِدِينِهِمْ ،
|
| gained guidance through their guidance,
|
وَ يَهْتَدُونَ بِهَدْيِهِمْ ،
|
| came to agreement with them, and never accused them in what they passed on to them.
|
يَتَّفِقُونَ عَلَيْهِمْ ، وَ لَا يَتَّهِمُونَهُمْ فِيمَا أَدَّوْا إِلَيْهِمْ .
|
| 13- O God, and bless the Followers,
|
13. اللَّهُمَّ وَ صَلِّ عَلَى التَّابِعِينَ
|
| from this day of ours to the Day of Doom,
|
مِنْ يَوْمِنَا هَذَا إِلَى يَوْمِ الدِّينِ
|
| their wives, their offspring,
|
وَ عَلَى أَزْوَاجِهِمْ وَ عَلَى ذُرِّيَّاتِهِمْ
|
| and those among them who obey Thee,
|
وَ عَلَى مَنْ أَطَاعَكَ مِنْهُمْ.
|
| 14- with a blessing through which Thou wilt preserve them from disobeying Thee,
|
14. صَلَاةً تَعْصِمُهُمْ بِهَا مِنْ مَعْصِيَتِكَ ،
|
| make room for them in the plots of Thy Garden,
|
وَ تَفْسَحُ لَهُمْ فِي رِيَاضِ جَنَّتِكَ ،
|
| defend them from the trickery of Satan,
|
وَ تَمْنَعُهُمْ بِهَا مِنْ كَيْدِ الشَّيْطَانِ ،
|
| help them in the piety in which they seek help from Thee,
|
وَ تُعِينُهُمْ بِهَا عَلَى مَا اسْتَعَانُوكَ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ بِرٍّ ،
|
| protect them from sudden events that come by night and day - except the events which come with good -
|
وَ تَقِيهِمْ طَوَارِقَ اللَّيْلِ وَ النَّهَارِ إِلَّا طَارِقاً يَطْرُقُ بِخَيْرٍ .
|
| 15- and incite them, through it (this blessing), to tie firmly the knot of good hope in Thee,
|
15. وَ تَبْعَثُهُمْ بِهَا عَلَى اعْتِقَادِ حُسْنِ الرَّجَاءِ لَكَ ،
|
| desire what is with Thee,
|
وَ الطَّمَعِ فِيمَا عِنْدَكَ
|
| and refrain from ill thoughts [toward Thee] because of what the hands of Thy servants' hold.
|
وَ تَرْكِ التُّهَمَةِ فِيمَا تَحْوِيهِ أَيْدِي الْعِبَادِ
|
| 16- Thus Thou mayest restore them to beseeching Thee and fearing Thee,
|
16. لِتَرُدَّهُمْ إِلَى الرَّغْبَةِ إِلَيْكَ وَ الرَّهْبَةِ مِنْكَ ،
|
| induce them to renounce the plenty of the immediate,
|
وَ تُزَهِّدَهُمْ فِي سَعَةِ الْعَاجِلِ ،
|
| make them love to work for the sake of the deferred
|
وَ تُحَبِّبَ إِلَيْهِمُ الْعَمَلَ لِلْآجِلِ ،
|
| and prepare for what comes after death,
|
وَ الِاسْتِعْدَادَ لِمَا بَعْدَ الْمَوْتِ
|
| 17- make easy for them every distress that comes to them
|
17. وَ تُهَوِّنَ عَلَيْهِمْ كُلَّ كَرْبٍ يَحِلُّ بِهِمْ
|
| on the day when souls take leave from bodies,
|
يَوْمَ خُرُوجِ الْأَنْفُسِ مِنْ أَبْدَانِهَا
|
| 18- release them from that which brings about the perils of temptation
|
18. وَ تُعَافِيَهُمْ مِمَّا تَقَعُ بِهِ الْفِتْنَةُ مِنْ مَحْذُورَاتِهَا ،
|
| and being thrown down in the Fire and staying forever within it,
|
وَ كَبَّةِ النَّارِ وَ طُولِ الْخُلُودِ فِيهَا
|
| 19- and take them to security,
|
19. وَ تُصَيِّرَهُمْ إِلَى أَمْنٍ
|
| the resting place of the godfearing.[1]
|
مِنْ مَقِيلِ الْمُتَّقِينَ .
