| His Supplication when he Asked God for Well-Being and Thanked Him for it
|
(23) وَ كَانَ مِنْ دُعَائِهِ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ إِذَا سَأَلَ اللَّهَ الْعَافِيَةَ وَ شُكْرَهَا
|
| In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
|
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحيمِ
|
| 1- O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
|
1. اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ ،
|
| clothe me in Thy well-being,
|
وَ أَلْبِسْنِي عَافِيَتَكَ ،
|
| wrap me in Thy well-being,
|
وَ جَلِّلْنِي عَافِيَتَكَ ،
|
| fortify me through Thy well-being,
|
وَ حَصِّنِّي بِعَافِيَتِكَ ،
|
| honour me with Thy well-being,
|
وَ أَكْرِمْنِي بِعَافِيَتِكَ ،
|
| free me from need through Thy well-being,
|
وَ أَغْنِنِي بِعَافِيَتِكَ ،
|
| donate to me Thy well-being,
|
وَ تَصَدَّقْ عَلَيَّ بِعَافِيَتِكَ ،
|
| bestow upon me Thy well-being, spread out for me Thy well-being,
|
وَ هَبْ لِي عَافِيَتَكَ وَ أَفْرِشْنِي عَافِيَتَكَ ،
|
| set Thy well-being right for me,
|
وَ أَصْلِحْ لِي عَافِيَتَكَ ،
|
| and separate me not from Thy well-being in this world and the next!
|
وَ لَا تُفَرِّقْ بَيْنِي وَ بَيْنَ عَافِيَتِكَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ .
|
| 2- O God, bless Muhammad and his Household
|
2. اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ ،
|
| and make me well with a well-being sufficient, healing, sublime, growing,
|
وَ عَافِنِي عَافِيَةً كَافِيَةً شَافِيَةً عَالِيَةً نَامِيَةً ،
|
| a well-being that will give birth to well-being in my body,
|
عَافِيَةً تُوَلِّدُ فِي بَدَنِي الْعَافِيَةَ ،
|
| a well-being in this world and the next!
|
عَافِيَةَ الدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ .
|
| 3- Oblige me through health, security, and safety
|
3. وَ امْنُنْ عَلَيَّ بِالصِّحَّةِ وَ الْأَمْنِ وَ السَّلَامَةِ
|
| in my religion and body,
|
فِي دِينِي وَ بَدَنِي ،
|
| insight in my heart,
|
وَ الْبَصِيرَةِ فِي قَلْبِي ،
|
| penetration in my affairs,
|
وَ النَّفَاذِ فِي أُمُورِي ،
|
| dread of Thee, fear of Thee,
|
وَ الْخَشْيَةِ لَكَ ، وَ الْخَوْفِ مِنْكَ ،
|
| strength for the obedience which Thou hast commanded for me,
|
وَ الْقُوَّةِ عَلَى مَا أَمَرْتَنِي بِهِ مِنْ طَاعَتِكَ ،
|
| and avoidance of the disobedience which Thou hast prohibited for me!
|
وَ الِاجْتِنَابِ لِمَا نَهَيْتَنِي عَنْهُ مِنْ مَعْصِيَتِكَ .
|
| 4- O God, oblige me through the hajj, the umra,
|
4.اللَّهُمَّ وَ امْنُنْ عَلَيَّ بِالْحَجِّ وَ الْعُمْرَةِ ،
|
| and visiting the graves of Thy Messenger
|
وَ زِيَارَةِ قَبْرِ رَسُولِكَ ،
|
| (Thy blessings, mercy, and benedictions upon him and upon his Household)
|
صَلَواتُكَ عَلَيْهِ وَ رَحْمَتُكَ وَ بَرَكَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِ وَ عَلَى آلِهِ ،
|
| and the Household of Thy Messenger (upon them be peace)
|
وَ آلِ رَسُولِكَ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّلَامُ
|
| for as long as Thou causest me to live,
|
أَبَداً مَا أَبْقَيْتَنِي
|
| in this year of mine and in every year,
|
فِي عَامِي هَذَا وَ فِي كُلِّ عَامٍ ،
|
| and make that accepted, thanked, and mentioned before Thee
|
وَ اجْعَلْ ذَلِكَ مَقْبُولًا مَشْكُوراً ، مَذْكُوراً لَدَيْكَ ،
|
| and stored away with Thee!
|
مَذْخُوراً عِنْدَكَ .
|
| 5- Make my tongue utter Thy praise, Thy thanksgiving,
|
5. وَ أَنْطِقْ بِحَمْدِكَ وَ شُكْرِكَ
|
| Thy remembrance, and Thy excellent laudation,
|
وَ ذِكْرِكَ وَ حُسْنِ الثَّنَاءِ عَلَيْكَ لِسَانِي ،
|
| and expand my heart toward the right goals of Thy religion!
|
وَ اشْرَحْ لِمَرَاشِدِ دِينِكَ قَلْبِي .
|
| 6- Give me and my progeny refuge from the accursed Satan,
|
6. وَ أَعِذْنِي وَ ذُرِّيَّتِي مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ ،
|
| the evil of venomous vermin, threatening pests, swarming crowds, and evil eyes,
|
وَ مِنْ شَرِّ السَّامَّةِ وَ الْهَامَّةِ و الْعَامَّةِ وَ اللَّامَّةِ ،
|
| the evil of every rebel Satan,
|
وَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ مَرِيدٍ ،
|
| the evil of every refractory sovereign,
|
وَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ سُلْطَانٍ عَنِيدٍ ،
|
| the evil of everyone living in ease and served,
|
وَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ مُتْرَفٍ حَفِيدٍ ،
|
| the evil of everyone weak or strong,
|
وَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ ضَعِيفٍ وَ شَدِيدٍ ،
|
| the evil of everyone born high or low,
|
وَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ شَرِيفٍ وَ وَضِيعٍ ،
|
| the evil of everyone small or great,
|
وَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ صَغِيرٍ وَ كَبِيرٍ ،
|
| the evil of everyone near or far,
|
وَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ قَرِيبٍ وَ بَعِيدٍ ،
|
| the evil of everyone, jinn or man, who declares war on Thy Messenger and his Household,
|
وَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ مَنْ نَصَبَ لِرَسُولِكَ وَ لِأَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ حَرْباً مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَ الْإِنْسِ ،
|
| and the evil of every crawling creature that Thou hast taken by the forelock!
|
وَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ دَابَّةٍ أَنْتَ آخِذٌ بِنَاصِيَتِهَا ،
|
| Surely Thou art on a straight path.
|
إِنَّكَ عَلَى صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ .
|
| 7- O God, bless Muhammad and his Household
|
7. اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ ،
|
| and if someone desires ill for me turn him away from me,
|
وَ مَنْ أَرَادَنِي بِسُوءٍ فَاصْرِفْهُ عَنِّي ،
|
| drive away from me his deception,
|
وَ ادْحَرْ عَنِّي مَكْرَهُ ،
|
| avert from me his evil, send his trickery back to his own throat,
|
وَ ادْرَأْ عَنِّي شَرَّهُ ، وَ رُدَّ كَيْدَهُ فِي نَحْرِهِ .
|
| 8- and place before him a barricade, so that Thou mayest blind his eyes toward me,
|
8. وَ اجْعَلْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ سُدّاً حَتَّى تُعْمِيَ عَنِّي بَصَرَهُ ،
|
| deafen his ears toward my mention,
|
وَ تُصِمَّ عَنْ ذِكْرِي سَمْعَهُ ،
|
| lock his heart toward recalling me,
|
وَ تُقْفِلَ دُونَ إِخْطَارِي قَلْبَهُ ،
|
| silence his tongue against me,
|
وَ تُخْرِسَ عَنِّي لِسَانَهُ ،
|
| restrain his head, abase his exaltation,
|
وَ تَقْمَعَ رَأْسَهُ ، وَ تُذِلَّ عِزَّهُ ،
|
| break his arrogance, abase his neck, disjoint his pride,
|
وَ تَكْسُرَ جَبَرُوتَهُ ، وَ تُذِلَّ رَقَبَتَهُ ، وَ تَفْسَخَ كِبْرَهُ ،
|
| and make me secure from all his injury, his evil, his slander, his backbiting, his faultfinding, his envy, his enmity, his snares, his traps,
|
وَ تُؤْمِنَنِي مِنْ جَمِيعِ ضَرِّهِ وَ شَرِّهِ وَ غَمْزِهِ وَ هَمْزِهِ وَ لَمْزِهِ وَ حَسَدِهِ وَ عَدَاوَتِهِ وَ حَبَائِلِهِ وَ مَصَايِدِهِ
|
| his foot soldiers, and his cavalry!
|
وَ رَجِلِهِ وَ خَيْلِهِ ،
|
| Surely Thou art Mighty, Powerful![1]
|
إِنَّكَ عَزِيزٌ قَدِيرٌ .
