| 33) His Supplication in Asking for the Best
|
(33) وَ كَانَ ، مِنْ دُعَائِهِ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فِي الْإِسْتِخَارَةِ
|
| In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
|
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحيمِ
|
| 1- O God, I ask from Thee the best in Thy knowledge,
|
1. اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَخِيرُكَ بِعِلْمِكَ ،
|
| so bless Muhammad and his Household
|
فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ ،
|
| and decree for me the best!
|
وَ اقْضِ لِي بِالْخِيَرَةِ
|
| 2- Inspire us with knowledge to choose the best and make that a means to
|
2. وَ أَلْهِمْنَا مَعْرِفَةَ الْإِخْتِيَارِ ، وَ اجْعَلْ ذَلِكَ ذَرِيعَةً إِلَى
|
| being pleased with what Thou hast decreed for us
|
الرِّضَا بِمَا قَضَيْتَ لَنَا
|
| and submitting to what Thou hast decided!
|
وَ التَّسْلِيمِ لِمَا حَكَمْتَ
|
| Banish from us the doubt of misgiving
|
فَأَزِحْ عَنَّا رَيْبَ الْإِرْتِيَابِ ،
|
| and confirm us with the certainty of the sincere!
|
وَ أَيِّدْنَا بِيَقِينِ الْمُخْلِصِينَ .
|
| 3- Visit us not with incapacity to know what Thou hast chosen,
|
3. وَ لَا تَسُمْنَا عَجْزَ الْمَعْرِفَةِ عَمَّا تَخَيَّرْتَ
|
| lest we despise Thy measuring out, dislike the place of Thy good pleasure,
|
فَنَغْمِطَ قَدْرَكَ ، وَ نَكْرَهَ مَوْضِعَ رِضَاكَ ،
|
| and incline toward that which is further from good outcome
|
وَ نَجْنَحَ إِلَى الَّتِي هِيَ أَبْعَدُ مِنْ حُسْنِ الْعَاقِبَةِ ،
|
| and nearer to the opposite of well-being!
|
وَ أَقْرَبُ إِلَى ضِدِّ الْعَافِيَةِ ،
|
| 4- Make us love what we dislike in Thy decree
|
4. حَبِّبْ إِلَيْنَا مَا نَكْرَهُ مِنْ قَضَائِكَ ،
|
| and make easy for us what we find difficult in Thy decision!
|
وَ سَهِّلْ عَلَيْنَا مَا نَسْتَصْعِبُ مِنْ حُكْمِكَ
|
| 5- Inspire us to yield to that which Thou bringest upon us by Thy will,
|
5. وَ أَلْهِمْنَا الْإِنْقِيَادَ لِمَا أَوْرَدْتَ عَلَيْنَا مِنْ مَشِيَّتِكَ
|
| lest we love the delay of what Thou hast hastened
|
حَتَّى لَا نُحِبَّ تَأْخِيرَ مَا عَجَّلْتَ ،
|
| and the hastening of what Thou hast delayed,
|
وَ لَا تَعْجِيلَ مَا أَخَّرْتَ ،
|
| dislike what Thou lovest, and choose what Thou dislikest!
|
وَ لَا نَكْرَهَ مَا أَحْبَبْتَ ، وَ لَا نَتَخَيَّرَ مَا كَرِهْتَ .
|
| 6- Seal us with that which is most praised in outcome
|
6. وَ اخْتِمْ لَنَا بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْمَدُ عَاقِبَةً ،
|
| and most generous in issue!
|
وَ أَكْرَمُ مَصِيراً ،
|
| Surely Thou givest generous gain, bestowest the immense,
|
إِنَّكَ تُفِيدُ الْكَرِيمَةَ ، وَ تُعْطِي الْجَسِيمَةَ ،
|
| dost what Thou wilt, and Thou art powerful over everything.[1]
|
وَ تَفْعَلُ مَا تُرِيدُ ، وَ أَنْتَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ .
