A Supplication in Calling down Blessings upon the Bearers of the Throne and Every Angel Brought Nigh
|
(3) وَ كَانَ مِنْ دُعَائِهِ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ عَلَى حَمَلَةِ الْعَرْشِ وَ كُلِّ مَلَكٍ مُقَرَّبٍ |
In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful. | بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحيمِ |
1- O God, as for the Bearers of Thy Throne, who never flag in glorifying Thee, | 1. اللَّهُمَّ وَ حَمَلَةُ عَرْشِكَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَفْتُرُونَ مِنْ تَسْبِيحِكَ ، |
never become weary of calling Thee holy, | وَ لَا يَسْأَمُونَ مِنْ تَقْدِيسِكَ ، |
never tire of worshipping Thee, | وَ لَا يَسْتَحْسِرُونَ مِنْ عِبَادَتِكَ |
never prefer curtailment over diligence in Thy command, | وَ لَا يُؤْثِرُونَ التَّقْصِيرَ عَلَى الْجِدِّ فِي أَمْرِكَ ، |
and are never heedless of passionate love for Thee; | وَ لَا يَغْفُلُونَ عَنِ الْوَلَهِ إِلَيْكَ |
2- Seraphiel, the Owner of the Trumpet, | 2. وَ إِسْرَافِيلُ صَاحِبُ الصُّورِ ، |
fixed in his gaze, awaiting Thy permission | الشَّاخِصُ الَّذِي يَنْتَظِرُ مِنْكَ الْإِذْنَ ، |
and the descent of the Command, | وَ حُلُولَ الْأَمْرِ ، |
that he may arouse through the Blast the hostages thrown down in the graves; | فَيُنَبِّهُ بِالنَّفْخَةِ صَرْعَى رَهَائِنِ الْقُبُورِ . |
3- Michael, possessor of standing with Thee | 3. وَ مِيكَائِيلُ ذُو الْجَاهِ عِنْدَكَ ، |
and a raised up place in Thy obedience; | وَ الْمَكَانِ الرَّفِيعِ مِنْ طَاعَتِكَ . |
4- Gabriel, entrusted with Thy revelation, | 4. وَ جِبْرِيلُ الْأَمِينُ عَلَى وَحْيِكَ ، |
obeyed by the inhabitants of Thy heavens, | الْمُطَاعُ فِي أَهْلِ سَمَاوَاتِكَ ، |
distinguished in Thy Presence, | الْمَكِينُ لَدَيْكَ ، |
brought nigh to Thee; | الْمُقَرَّبُ عِنْدَكَ |
5- the spirit who is over the angels of the veils; | 5. وَ الرُّوحُ الَّذِي هُوَ عَلَى مَلَائِكَةِ الْحُجُبِ . |
6- and the spirit who is of Thy command | 6. وَ الرُّوحُ الَّذِي هُوَ مِنْ أَمْرِكَ ، |
bless them and the angels below them: the residents in Thy heavens, | فَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمْ ، وَ عَلَى الْمَلَائِكَةِ الَّذِينَ مِنْ دُونِهِمْ مِنْ سُكَّانِ سَمَاوَاتِكَ ، |
those entrusted with Thy messages, | وَ أَهْلِ الْأَمَانَةِ عَلَى رِسَالَاتِكَ |
7- those who become not wearied by perseverance, | 7. وَالَّذِينَ لَا تَدْخُلُهُمْ سَأْمَةٌ مِنْ دُءُوبٍ ، |
or exhausted and flagged by toil, | وَ لَا إِعْيَاءٌ مِنْ لُغُوبٍ وَ لَا فُتُورٌ ، |
whom passions distract not from glorifying Thee, | وَ لَا تَشْغَلُهُمْ عَنْ تَسْبِيحِكَ الشَّهَوَاتُ ، |
and whose magnification of Thee is never cut off by the inattention of heedless moments; | وَ لَا يَقْطَعُهُمْ عَنْ تَعْظِيمِكَ سَهْوُ الْغَفَلَاتِ . |
8- their eyes lowered, they do not attempt to look at Thee; | 8. الْخُشَّعُ الْأَبْصَارِ فَلَا يَرُومُونَ النَّظَرَ إِلَيْكَ ، |
their chins bowed, | النَّوَاكِسُ الْأَذْقَانِ ، |
they have long desired what is with Thee; | الَّذِينَ قَدْ طَالَتْ رَغْبَتُهُمْ فِيمَا لَدَيْكَ ، |
unrestrained in mentioning Thy boons, | الْمُسْتَهْتَرُونَ بِذِكْرِ آلَائِكَ ، |
they remain humble before Thy mightiness and the majesty of Thy magnificence; | وَ الْمُتَوَاضِعُونَ دُونَ عَظَمَتِكَ وَ جَلَالِ كِبْرِيَائِكَ |
9- those who say when they look upon Gehenna roaring over the people who disobeyed Thee: 'Glory be to Thee, we have not worshipped Thee with the worship Thou deservest!' | 9. وَ الَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ إِذَا نَظَرُوا إِلَى جَهَنَّمَ تَزْفِرُ عَلَى أَهْلِ مَعْصِيَتِكَ سُبْحَانَكَ مَا عَبَدْنَاكَ حَقَّ عِبَادَتِكَ . |
10- Bless them, and Thy angels who are the Reposeful, | 10. فَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمْ وَ عَلَى الرَّوْحَانِيِّينَ مِنْ مَلَائِكَتِكَ ، |
those of proximity to Thee, | وَ أَهْلِ الزُّلْفَةِ عِنْدَكَ ، |
those who carry the unseen to Thy messengers, those entrusted with Thy revelation, | وَ حُمَّالِ الْغَيْبِ إِلَى رُسُلِكَ ، وَ الْمُؤْتَمَنِينَ عَلَى وَحْيِكَ |
11- the tribes of angels whom Thou hast singled out for Thyself, | 11. وَ قَبَائِلِ الْمَلَائِكَةِ الَّذِينَ اخْتَصَصْتَهُمْ لِنَفْسِكَ ، |
freed from need for food and drink by their calling Thee holy, | وَ أَغْنَيْتَهُمْ عَنِ الطَّعَامِ وَ الشَّرَابِ بِتَقْدِيسِكَ ، |
and made to dwell inside Thy heavens' layers, | وَ أَسْكَنْتَهُمْ بُطُونَ أَطْبَاقِ سَمَاوَاتِكَ . |
12- those who will stand upon the heavens' borders | 12. وَ الَّذِينَ عَلَى أَرْجَائِهَا |
when the Command descends to complete Thy promise, | إِذَا نَزَلَ الْأَمْرُ بِتَمَامِ وَعْدِكَ |
13- the keepers of the rain, the drivers of the clouds, | 13. وَ خُزَّانِ الْمَطَرِ وَ زَوَاجِرِ السَّحَابِ |
14- him at whose driving's sound is heard the rolling of thunder, | 14. وَ الَّذِي بِصَوْتِ زَجْرِهِ يُسْمَعُ زَجَلُ الرُّعُودِ ، |
and when the reverberating clouds swim before his driving, bolts of lightning flash; | وَ إِذَا سَبَحَتْ بِهِ حَفِيفَةُ السَّحَابِ الْتَمَعَتْ صَوَاعِقُ الْبُرُوقِ . |
15- the escorts of snow and hail, | 15. وَ مُشَيِّعِي الثَّلْجِ وَ الْبَرَدِ ، |
the descenders with the drops of rain when they fall, | وَ الْهَابِطِينَ مَعَ قَطْرِ الْمَطَرِ إِذَا نَزَلَ ، |
the watchers over the treasuries of the winds, | وَ الْقُوَّامِ عَلَى خَزَائِنِ الرِّيَاحِ ، |
those charged with the mountains lest they disappear, | وَ الْمُوَكَّلِينَ بِالْجِبَالِ فَلَا تَزُولُ |
16- those whom Thou hast taught the weights of the waters | 16. وَ الَّذِينَ عَرَّفْتَهُمْ مَثَاقِيلَ الْمِيَاهِ ، |
and the measures contained by torrents and masses of rain; | وَ كَيْلَ مَا تَحْوِيهِ لَوَاعِجُ الْأَمْطَارِ وَ عَوَالِجُهَا |
17- the angels who are Thy messengers to the people of the earth | 17. وَ رُسُلِكَ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ إِلَى أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ |
with the disliked affliction that comes down | بِمَكْرُوهِ مَا يَنْزِلُ مِنَ الْبَلَاءِ |
and the beloved ease; | وَ مَحْبُوبِ الرَّخَاءِ |
18- the devoted, noble scribes, | 18. وَ السَّفَرَةِ الْكِرَامِ الْبَرَرَةِ ، |
the watchers, noble writers, | وَ الْحَفَظَةِ الْكِرَامِ الْكَاتِبِينَ ، |
the angel of death and his helpers, | وَ مَلَكِ الْمَوْتِ وَ أَعْوَانِهِ ، |
Munkar and Nakir, Rumaan, the tester in the graves, | وَ مُنْكَرٍ وَ نَكِيرٍ ، وَ رُومَانَ فَتَّانِ الْقُبُورِ ، |
the circlers of the Inhabited House, | وَ الطَّائِفِينَ بِالْبَيْتِ الْمَعْمُورِ ، |
Malik and the guardians, Ridwan and the gatekeepers of the gardens, | وَ مَالِكٍ ، وَ الْخَزَنَةِ ، وَ رِضْوَانَ ، وَ سَدَنَةِ الْجِنَانِ . |
19- those who disobey not God in What He commands them | 19. وَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَعْصُونَ اللَّهَ مَا أَمَرَهُمْ ، |
and do What they are commanded; | وَ يَفْعَلُونَ مَا يُؤْمَرُونَ |
20- those who say, Peace be upon you, for that you were patient | 20. وَ الَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ سَلَامٌ عَلَيْكُمْ بِمَا صَبَرْتُمْ |
- and fair is the Ultimate Abode; | فَنِعْمَ عُقْبَى الدَّارِ |
21- the Zabaniya, who, when it is said to them, | 21. وَ الزَّبَانِيَةِ الَّذِينَ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ |
take him, and fetter him, then roast him in hell, | خُذُوهُ فَغُلُّوهُ ثُمَّ الْجَحِيمَ صَلُّوهُ |
hasten to accomplish it, nor do they give him any respite; | ابْتَدَرُوهُ سِرَاعاً ، وَ لَمْ يُنْظِرُوهُ . |
22- him whom we have failed to mention, not knowing his place with Thee, | 22. وَ مَنْ أَوْهَمْنَا ذِكْرَهُ ، وَ لَمْ نَعْلَمْ مَكَانَهُ مِنْكَ ، |
nor with which command Thou hast charged him; | و بِأَيِّ أَمْرٍ وَكَّلْتَهُ . |
23- and the residents in the air, the earth, and the water, | 23. وَ سُكَّانِ الْهَوَاءِ وَ الْأَرْضِ وَ الْمَاءِ |
and those of them charged over the creatures; | وَ مَنْ مِنْهُمْ عَلَى الْخَلْقِ |
24- bless them on the day when every soul will come, with it a driver and a witness, | 24. فَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمْ يَومَ يَأْتِي كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَعَهَا سَائِقٌ وَ شَهِيدٌ |
25- and bless them with a blessing that will add honour to their honour | 25. وَ صَلِّ عَلَيْهِمْ صَلَاةً تَزِيدُهُمْ كَرَامَةً عَلَى كَرَامَتِهِمْ |
and purity to their purity. | وَ طَهَارَةً عَلَى طَهَارَتِهِمْ |
26- O God, and when Thou blessest Thy angels and Thy messengers | 26. اللَّهُمَّ وَ إِذَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى مَلَائِكَتِكَ وَ رُسُلِكَ |
and Thou extendest our blessings to them, | وَ بَلَّغْتَهُمْ صَلَاتَنَا عَلَيْهِمْ |
bless us through the good words about them which Thou hast opened up for us! | فَصَلِّ عَلَيْنَا بِمَا فَتَحْتَ لَنَا مِنْ حُسْنِ الْقَوْلِ فِيهِمْ ، |
Thou art Munificent, Generous.[1] | إِنَّكَ جَوَادٌ كَرِيمٌ |
