| His Supplication when he Mentioned Satan and Sought Refuge from him and from his Enmity and Trickery
|
(17) وَ كَانَ مِنْ دُعَائِهِ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ إِذَا ذُكِرَ الشَّيْطَانُ فَاسْتَعَاذَ مِنْهُ وَ مِنْ عَدَاوَتِهِ وَ كَيْدِهِ
|
| In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
|
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحيمِ
|
| 1- O God, we seek refuge in Thee
|
1. اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَعُوذُ بِكَ
|
| from the instigations of the accursed Satan,
|
مِنْ نَزَغَاتِ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ
|
| his trickery, and his traps,
|
وَ كَيْدِهِ وَ مَكَايِدِهِ ،
|
| from trust in his false hopes, his promises, his delusions, and his snares,
|
وَ مِنَ الثِّقَةِ بِأَمَانِيِّهِ وَ مَوَاعِيدِهِ وَ غُرُورِهِ وَ مَصَايِدِهِ .
|
| 2- and lest he should make himself crave to lead us away from Thy obedience
|
2. وَ أَنْ يُطْمِعَ نَفْسَهُ فِي إِضْلَالِنَا عَنْ طَاعَتِكَ ،
|
| and to degrade us through our disobeying Thee,
|
وَ امْتِهَانِنَا بِمَعْصِيَتِكَ ،
|
| and lest what he has shown us as beautiful be beautiful for us
|
أَوْ أَنْ يَحْسُنَ عِنْدَنَا مَا حَسَّنَ لَنَا ،
|
| and what he has shown us as detestable weigh down upon us.
|
أَوْ أَنْ يَثْقُلَ عَلَيْنَا مَا كَرَّهَ إِلَيْنَا .
|
| 3- O God, drive him away from us through Thy worship,
|
3. اللَّهُمَّ اخْسَأْهُ عَنَّا بِعِبَادَتِكَ ،
|
| throw him down through our perseverance in Thy love,
|
وَ اكْبِتْهُ بِدُءوبِنَا فِي مَحَبَّتِكَ ،
|
| and place between him and us a covering that he cannot tear away
|
وَ اجْعَلْ بَيْنَنَا وَ بَيْنَهُ سِتْراً لَا يَهْتِكُهُ ،
|
| and a solid barrier that he cannot cut through!
|
وَ رَدْماً مُصْمِتاً لَا يَفْتُقُهُ .
|
| 4- O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
|
4. اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ ،
|
| distract Satan from us with some of Thy enemies,
|
وَ اشْغَلْهُ عَنَّا بِبَعْضِ أَعْدَائِكَ ،
|
| preserve us from him through Thy good guarding,
|
وَ اعْصِمْنَا مِنْهُ بِحُسْنِ رِعَايَتِكَ ،
|
| spare us his treachery,
|
وَ اكْفِنَا خَتْرَهُ ،
|
| turn his back toward us,
|
وَ وَلِّنَا ظَهْرَهُ ،
|
| and cut off from us his trace!
|
وَ اقْطَعْ عَنَّا إِثْرَهُ .
|
| 5- O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
|
5. اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ ،
|
| give us to enjoy guidance the like of his misguidance,
|
وَ أَمْتِعْنَا مِنَ الْهُدَى بِمِثْلِ ضَلَالَتِهِ ،
|
| increase us in piety against his seduction,
|
وَ زَوِّدْنَا مِنَ الْتَّقْوَى ضِدَّ غَوَايَتِهِ ،
|
| and make us walk in reverential fear
|
وَ اسْلُكْ بِنَا مِنَ التُّقَى
|
| contrary to his path of ruin!
|
خِلَافَ سَبِيلِهِ مِنَ الرَّدَى .
|
| 6- O God, assign him no place of entrance into our hearts
|
6. اللَّهُمَّ لَا تَجْعَلْ لَهُ فِي قُلُوبِنَا مَدْخَلًا
|
| and do not allow him to make his home in that which is with us!
|
وَ لَا تُوطِنَنَّ لَهُ فِيمَا لَدَيْنَا مَنْزِلًا .
|
| 7- O God, cause us to recognize the falsehood with which he tempts us,
|
7. اللَّهُمَّ وَ مَا سَوَّلَ لَنَا مِنْ بَاطِلٍ فَعَرِّفْنَاهُ ،
|
| and once Thou hast caused us to recognize it, protect us from it!
|
وَ إِذَا عَرَّفْتَنَاهُ فَقِنَاهُ ،
|
| Make us see what will allow us to outwit him,
|
وَ بَصِّرْنَا مَا نُكَايِدُهُ بِهِ ،
|
| inspire us with all that we can make ready for him,
|
وَ أَلْهِمْنَا مَا نُعِدُّهُ لَهُ ،
|
| awaken us from the heedless slumber of relying upon him,
|
وَ أَيْقِظْنَا عَنْ سِنَةِ الْغَفْلَةِ بِالرُّكُونِ إِلَيْهِ ،
|
| and help us well, through Thy giving success, against him!
|
وَ أَحْسِنْ بِتَوْفِيقِكَ عَوْنَنَا عَلَيْهِ .
|
| 8- O God, saturate our hearts with the rejection of his works
|
8. اللَّهُمَّ وَ أَشْرِبْ قُلُوبَنَا إِنْكَارَ عَمَلِهِ ،
|
| and be gentle to us by destroying his stratagems!
|
وَ الْطُفْ لَنَا فِي نَقْضِ حِيَلِهِ .
|
| 9- O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
|
9. اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ ،
|
| turn his authority away from us,
|
وَ حَوِّلْ سُلْطَانَهُ عَنَّا ،
|
| cut off his hope from us,
|
وَ اقْطَعْ رَجَاءَهُ مِنَّا ،
|
| and keep him from craving for us!
|
وَ ادْرَأْهُ عَنِ الْوُلُوعِ بِنَا .
|
| 10- O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
|
10. اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ ،
|
| and place our fathers, our mothers, our children, our wives,
|
وَ اجْعَلْ آبَاءَنَا وَ أُمَّهَاتِنَا وَ أَوْلَادَنَا وَ أَهَالِيَنَا
|
| our siblings, our relatives,
|
وَ ذَوِي أَرْحَامِنَا وَ قَرَابَاتِنَا
|
| and the faithful among our neighbours, male and female,
|
وَ جِيرَانَنَا مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ مِنْهُ
|
| in a sanctuary impregnable to him, a guarding fortress, a defending cave!
|
فِي حِرْزٍ حَارِزٍ ، وَ حِصْنٍ حَافِظٍ ، وَ كَهْفٍ مَانِعٍ ،
|
| Clothe them in shields protective against him
|
وَ أَلْبِسْهُمْ مِنْهُ جُنَناً وَاقِيَةً ،
|
| and give them arms that will cut him down!
|
وَ أَعْطِهِمْ عَلَيْهِ أَسْلِحَةً مَاضِيَةً .
|
| 11- O God, include in that everyone who
|
11. اللَّهُمَّ وَ اعْمُمْ بِذَلِكَ مَنْ
|
| witnesses to Thee as Lord,
|
شَهِدَ لَكَ بِالرُّبُوبِيَّةِ ،
|
| devotes himself sincerely to Thy Unity,
|
وَ أَخْلَصَ لَكَ بِالْوَحْدَانِيَّةِ ،
|
| shows enmity toward him through the reality of servanthood,
|
وَ عَادَاهُ لَكَ بِحَقِيقَةِ الْعُبُودِيَّةِ ،
|
| and seeks help from Thee against him through knowledge of the divine sciences!
|
وَ اسْتَظْهَرَ بِكَ عَلَيْهِ فِي مَعْرِفَةِ الْعُلُومِ الرَّبَّانِيَّةِ .
|
| 12- O God, undo what he ties,
|
12. اللَّهُمَّ احْلُلْ مَا عَقَدَ ،
|
| unstitch what he sews up,
|
وَ افْتُقْ مَا رَتَقَ ،
|
| dislocate what he devises,
|
وَ افْسَخْ مَا دَبَّرَ ،
|
| frustrate him when he makes up his mind, and destroy what he establishes!
|
وَ ثَبِّطْهُ إِذَا عَزَمَ ، وَ انْقُضْ مَا أَبْرَمَ .
|
| 13- O God, rout his troops, nullify his trickery,
|
13. اللَّهُمَّ وَ اهْزِمْ جُنْدَهُ ،
|
| make his cave collapse, and rub his nose in the ground!
|
وَ أَبْطِلْ كَيْدَهُ وَ اهْدِمْ كَهْفَهُ ، وَ أَرْغِمْ أَنْفَهُ .
|
| 14- O God, place us in the ranks of his enemies
|
14. اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنَا فِي نَظْمِ أَعْدَائِهِ ،
|
| and remove us from the number of his friends,
|
وَ اعْزِلْنَا عَنْ عِدَادِ أَوْلِيَائِهِ ،
|
| that we obey him not when he entices us
|
لَا نُطِيعُ لَهُ إِذَا اسْتَهْوَانَا ،
|
| and answer him not when he calls to us!
|
وَ لَا نَسْتَجِيبُ لَهُ إِذَا دَعَانَا ،
|
| We command everyone who obeys our command to be his enemy
|
نَأْمُرُ بِمُنَاوَأَتِهِ ، مَنْ أَطَاعَ أَمْرَنَا ،
|
| and we admonish everyone who follows our prohibition not to follow him!
|
وَ نَعِظُ عَنْ مُتَابَعَتِهِ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ زَجْرَنَا .
|
| 15- O God, bless Muhammad,
|
15. اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ
|
| the Seal of the prophets and lord of the emissaries,
|
خَاتَمِ النَّبِيِّينَ وَ سَيِّدِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
|
| and the folk of his house, the good, the pure!
|
وَ عَلَى أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ الطَّيِّبِينَ الطَّاهِرِينَ ،
|
| Give refuge to us, our families, our brothers, and all the faithful, male and female, from that from which we seek refuge,
|
وَ أَعِذْنَا وَ أَهَالِيَنَا وَ إِخْوَانَنَا وَ جَمِيعَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ مِمَّا اسْتَعَذْنَا مِنْهُ ،
|
| and grant us sanctuary from that through fear of which we seek sanctuary in Thee!
|
وَ أَجِرْنَا مِمَّا اسْتَجَرْنَا بِكَ مِنْ خَوْفِهِ
|
| 16- Hear our supplication to Thee,
|
16. وَ اسْمَعْ لَنَا مَا دَعَوْنَا بِهِ ،
|
| bestow upon us that of which we have been heedless,
|
وَ أَعْطِنَا مَا أَغْفَلْنَاهُ ،
|
| and safeguard for us what we have forgotten!
|
وَ احْفَظْ لَنَا مَا نَسِينَاهُ ،
|
| Through all this bring us into the ranks of the righteous
|
وَ صَيِّرْنَا بِذَلِكَ فِي دَرَجَاتِ الصَّالِحِينَ
|
| and the degrees of the faithful!
|
وَ مَرَاتِبِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ،
|
| Amen, Lord of the worlds![1]
|
آمِينَ رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ .
