ʿAmmār b. Abī Salama al-Dālānī al-Hamdānī (Arabic: عمار بن ابي سلمة الدالاني الهمداني) known as Ammar al-Dalani was among the companions of the Prophet (s) and the companions of Imam Ali (a) in the battles of Jamal, Siffin and Nahrawan and among the martyrs of Karbala.[1]

Ammar was from "Bani Dalan", a clan of Hamdan tribe.[2] In the Battle of Karbala, he attempted to kill Ibn Ziyad in Nukhayla camp near Kufa, but he was not successful. Then, he joined the camp of Imam al-Husayn (a)[3] and was martyred on the Day of Ashura in the first attack of the enemy.[4]

His name is mentioned in Ziyara al-Shuhada', "Peace be upon Ammar b. Abi Salama Hamdani."[5]
